Since this Covid times has been a dry photo time for me I had to go back a couple of years to find something for this challenge, it is from 2018 and taken in the Drottningholm Castle park.
(That is where the royal family lives here in Sweden!)

The challenge will end on Monday 30th at 18:00 CET.

60-Hour Post-Processing Challenge Rules
The Challenge Master provides an image or images to be "improved" upon by way of post-processing, as well as a closing date for entries.

  1. Entrants are to post their entries, visible in this thread, at a resolution of 1000 to 1600 pixels in the longest dimension, prior to the closing date.
  2. Each entrant is allowed two entries in the Challenge.
  3. At the close of the Challenge, the Challenge Master will select a Winner and Runners-up.
  4. The Winner of the challenge is honoured as the Master of the next Challenge
Notes:

  • Any/all source images used for the challenge must be the Challenge Master's own images. They are posted solely for the purpose of this Challenge; not to invite critique or criticism nor for other uses. If Entrants post their entries at a photo sharing site, they should credit the owner of the original image.
  • "Improve" is a subjective term, and may include many creative ideas, as well as traditional "fixing". The Challenge Master agrees that Entrants may make any changes they deem fit in their entries.
  • Entrants are strongly encouraged to share the tools and techniques used for their entries, however this is not a requirement for entry.
  • As we all know, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. The Challenge Master is encouraged (but not required) to state the criteria used to decide upon a Winner. While we may not all agree with the result, the Challenge Master's decision is final. Please refrain from posting adverse comment.
  • If the Winner is unable to post a new Challenge within five days, the honour passes to the next Runner-up.

You didn't tell us you had hidden a "Mysterious Woman" and a gothic statue in the picture !'

She took a lot of finding though - I tone mapped the raw image to discover her and then went for B&W as every step to recover shadows or add local areas of brightness made the coulours stranger !

Now - next time, can we get you to carry a graduated ND filter to save more detail in that wonderful patterned sky !!

Best wishes to you all - paul C

If I would tell you about the secrets in the picture there would less of a challenge!
(That is Queen Silvia out walking Tjabo, NOT!) ;)

A graduated ND filter sounds like a good idea, do you have one to recommend?

You can pay a fortune for graduated ND filters - and I never had the one I wanted with me; my solution is to get the inexpensive resin ones and carry both soft and hard graduation in NDx2 and x4. Yes, in time they get a bit scratched - but are affordable to replace every 5 years. The graduated filter master to study for me is a photographer called Joe Cornish - a wonderful landscape photographer who takes a lot of pictures for the UK National Trust organisation that preserves old buildings and much of the UK countryside. He has a gellery online at http://www.joecornishgallery.co.uk/. and there are also lots of online lessons with him to enjoy !

Having first of all tried to process the JPEG I now understand why in certain situations RAW is the way to go.

So again you all made my life difficult, a lot of different takes on the picture and all good in their way.
But I have to decide a winner and runners up, this is of course my very personal opinion, but then I am the host and judge!
A third of the pictures where B&W, I wonder if the entrants are trying to please the judge? ;)

So it is fitting that one of the three runner-up and winner is a B&W:
2nd runner-up: @Paul C #1 B&W!
Then we have the colour versions:
1st runner-up: @Robert Davidson #2
and finally:
The winner: @Growltiger #1, I like the picture better without the extra birds.

So over to you @Growltiger!
