@frankmulder -- I have not yet visited the Netherlands, although I hope to eventually travel there (when/if the world becomes normal again). But here is another challenge from Bruges, only a couple of hours away from you.

This rainbow scene is from 2013, on my first international trip shooting m43 (my original E-PL5 and the kit lens). I am including two similar (and similarly bad) images which you may use for your entries, as you find appropriate.

Raw and JPEG files are here.

The challenge will close at 7:00 am Thursday, June 10th, Seattle local time (UTC-7).

----------
Post-Processing Challenge Rules
  1. The Challenge Master provides an image or images to be "improved" upon by way of post-processing, as well as a closing date for entries.
  2. Entrants are to post their entries, visible in this thread, at a resolution of 1000 to 1600 pixels in the longest dimension, prior to the closing date.
  3. Each entrant is allowed two entries in the Challenge.
  4. At the close of the Challenge, the Challenge Master will select a Winner and Runners-up.
  5. The Winner of the challenge is honored as the Master of the next Challenge.

Notes:
  • Images provided by Challenge Masters must be their own. They are posted solely for the purpose of this Challenge; not to invite critique or criticism nor for other uses. If Entrants post their entries at a photo sharing site, they should credit the owner of the original image.
  • "Improve" is a subjective term, and may include many creative ideas, as well as traditional "fixing". The Challenge Master agrees that Entrants may make any changes they deem fit in their entries.
  • Entrants are strongly encouraged to share the tools and techniques used for their entries, however this is not a requirement for entry.
  • Compositing is allowed, provided the use of the donor image does not violate any licensing or copyright restrictions.
  • As we all know, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. The Challenge Master is encouraged (but not required) to state the criteria used to decide upon a Winner. While we may not all agree with the result, the Challenge Master's decision is final. Please refrain from posting adverse comment.
  • If the Winner is unable to post a new Challenge within five days, the honor passes to the next Runner-up.

Liked the rainbow in the B picture and the laughing woman at the bottom of the A picture, so I did a vertical Panorama in Hugin.

I am sorry, but I need to replace both pictures above, there is grain that I don't like and using DeepPrime removes that,
So I will replace both the colour one and the B&W.
Edit: Changed my mind, I will show the pictures with DeepPRIME in this post, out of contest and people can judge for them self it is needed or not.

To me, all the emotion is in the lower half of the image; therefore:

I tried to remove the 2 flags/banners but not sure of the background to replace them. So I too gave up on trying to keep the rainbow and full image.
#1. Photoshop crop.

#1 made a pano, cropped so top of the front building stayed in the photo , used some content aware fill on top and right side,
removed some wires at the tops of the buildings. used Nik define 2 for noise and smart sharpen in photoshop.

I have visited Brugge a couple of times but only with film cameras (OM-2). For me, it's the rainbow, the sun-washed facades and the wet pavement. I would have given my eye teeth to have experienced this weather.

Original faux HDR exposure tweaks in Adobe Camera Raw, synchronized.
Images aligned in Photoshop, blended with mask, stamped.
Image rotation, perspective correction.
Content-aware fill repair at top.
Curves layer with luminance mask to bring up the shadows a bit further.
Addressed the skin tones with both a curves layer and a hue/saturation layer.
A bit of facelift with liquify.
Finally, after downsizing for display, a trip through Topaz Denoise AI, more for sharpening than anything else.

Entry 2

Desaturated a little, lightened top left of sky and put some saturation back mostly using the sponge tool.

A worthy challenge. Used both raw files. Edited in DxO PL4 then tweaked to my heart's delight (so I don't remember most of what I've done) in Elements.
