A Skagit County farm on Fir Island, near the mouth of the north fork of the Skagit River. Those forested hills in the distance are on Whidbey Island, not far from my home.

Edit: Those hills are actually on Camano Island rather than Whidbey. Whidbey is out of scene, to the right.

Raw and JPEG files are here.

The challenge will close on March 24th at 9:00AM Seattle local time (UTC-07:00).

----------

Post-Processing Challenge Rules
  1. The Challenge Master provides an image or images to be "improved" upon by way of post-processing, as well as a closing date for entries.
  2. Entrants are to post their entries, visible in this thread, at a resolution of 1000 to 1600 pixels in the longest dimension, prior to the closing date.
  3. Each entrant is allowed two entries in the Challenge.
  4. At the close of the Challenge, the Challenge Master will select a Winner and Runners-up.
  5. The Winner of the challenge is honored as the Master of the next Challenge.

Notes:
  • Images provided by Challenge Masters must be their own. They are posted solely for the purpose of this Challenge; not to invite critique or criticism nor for other uses. If Entrants post their entries at a photo sharing site, they should credit the owner of the original image.
  • "Improve" is a subjective term, and may include many creative ideas, as well as traditional "fixing". The Challenge Master agrees that Entrants may make any changes they deem fit in their entries.
  • Entrants are strongly encouraged to share the tools and techniques used for their entries, however this is not a requirement for entry.
  • Compositing is allowed, provided the use of the donor image does not violate any licensing or copyright restrictions.
  • As we all know, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. The Challenge Master is encouraged (but not required) to state the criteria used to decide upon a Winner. While we may not all agree with the result, the Challenge Master's decision is final. Please refrain from posting adverse comment.
  • If the Winner is unable to post a new Challenge within five days, the honor passes to the next Runner-up.

Beautiful shot, not much needed to do to it.

I feel like the result I achieved fooling around probably could have been done with fewer modules in DT3.4 (rather than running through multiple different things all touching color and exposure) but it worked out in the end, I hope. Shouldn't have been hard with a great shot to work from!

Perfectly exposed image. Took quite some time to decide on a crop that I liked...

Hardest part for me was trying to clone out the power lines.

Lots of work in Adobe Camera Raw, including a luminance range mask to bring up the foreground.
That didn't go far enough for my taste so I resorted to the two smart object and mask strategy as well.

I liked the sky details but there was too much of it for my taste so I made a raster layer from the two smart objects and squashed it a bit, then blended it to the base image.

Finally, that eagle seemed a bit lonely...

I see you added an extra eagle, too.

edit: I see one sure eagle and a probable second above a possible nest, but as @BosseBe can tell you, I am a famously bad counter of birds.

I am pretty sure you are correct, I saw the first bird to the left, but didn't first think that the other dark shape above the nest was another one.

First I used the enhance feature in camera raw. It made a file that was 230.7 mb 10368 x 7776 at 300dpi.
next I cut the size in half to 5000 on the long side. I liked the sky in the photo and had a plan to darken the sky a bit.
I also used Topaz Denoise and the NIK extract detail filter and a little burning of the brighter clouds.

Put into Topaz Gigapixel AI to see how much detail I could get out of the house. Wasn't too good, so instead I cropped to focus on the house and trees. Then into Luminar to do enhanced AI, then turned it to B/W to deal with the colour casts and adjusted the contrast to my liking.
