Ok, I was able to use my phone this afternoon as a hotspot and view the entries on my iPad, which isn’t as good as my big monitor, but is good enough. No, I still don’t have power back, and my desktop system is in a part of the house not wired into the generator switch panel. So here goes.
First, I didn’t find any of the B&W versions preferable to the color versions. The relative lack of haze, flat lighting, and (as Sue said) high level of detail made it hard to appreciate the various layers and geological features. Special mention to
@Zapp DJR for his interesting ”dark and stormy night” version, but it still didn’t work for me.
Second, I liked entries including the waterfall better than those without.
Third, even though I provided two images to stitch, I thought the far right of the right hand image provided little of interest. I thought Richard’s crop was nearly perfect.
Fourth, vastly improving the challenge image by
totally replacing it (I’m looking at you,
@mumu ) is too embarrassing for the Challenge Master, so I therefore rebuff such efforts with a sniff and a handwave.
Winner:
@RichardC . I think I prefer the entry 1 colors, but entry 2 was good, too.
1st Runner-Up:
@BosseBe entry #1.
2nd Runner-Up, 3-way tie:
Thanks to everyone who entered. I’m sorry my tech problems interfered with things, so thank you again for your understanding.
Passing the baton back to Richard.
