The Challenge closes at midnight on Tuesday 10th of Nov.
60-Hour Post-Processing Challenge Rules

The Challenge Master provides an image or images to be "improved" upon by way of post-processing, as well as a closing date for entries.
  1. Entrants are to post their entries, visible in this thread, at a resolution of 1000 to 1600 pixels in the longest dimension, prior to the closing date.
  2. Each entrant is allowed two entries in the Challenge.
  3. At the close of the Challenge, the Challenge Master will select a Winner and Runners-up.
  4. The Winner of the challenge is honoured as the Master of the next Challenge

Notes:
  • Any/all source images used for the challenge must be the Challenge Master's own images. They are posted solely for the purpose of this Challenge; not to invite critique or criticism nor for other uses. If Entrants post their entries at a photo sharing site, they should credit the owner of the original image.
  • "Improve" is a subjective term, and may include many creative ideas, as well as traditional "fixing". The Challenge Master agrees that Entrants may make any changes they deem fit in their entries.
  • Entrants are strongly encouraged to share the tools and techniques used for their entries, however this is not a requirement for entry.
  • As we all know, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. The Challenge Master is encouraged (but not required) to state the criteria used to decide upon a Winner. While we may not all agree with the result, the Challenge Master's decision is final. Please refrain from posting adverse comment.
  • If the Winner is unable to post a new Challenge within five days, the honor passes to the next Runner-up.

I added some creatures to the scene and replaced the sky.

1. Any/all source images used for the challenge must be the Challenge Master's own images

I am new to this competition. Isn't adding parts from other people's images, e.g., sky, animal, moon, lamps ;-), against the first rule?

No, the original picture has to be the OP's (Challenge Master's) own picture, but we are free as contestants to do what ever we want to the picture to try to win! 😎
But of course the picture still belongs to the OP.

I believe wording similar to this was added to the rules to prevent using someone else's photo for the challenge, to avoid any resulting problems (copyright, misuse, controversy, etc.) and wasn't intended to strictly limit the content of submissions to the source. It has not been interpreted thusly to disqualify entries in the past, and such additions have provided a rich history of interesting entries. An old version of the rule from challenge #12 (2013):

The Challenger will provide any photo that he/she deems worthy of challenging other members to "improve" by way Post Processing. It must be their own photo, and taken with m4/3 equipment. "Improve" is a subjective term, and includes many creative ideas as well as traditional "fixing". The Challenger agrees that entrants may make any changes they deem fit to post in their entry.
Any such extra image content should still follow forum rules against posting copyrighted works of others (in part or whole) without permission. You're always best using your own images for extra material.

Sky is sourced directly from within the photoshop app and is a pixabay royalty free image. Search 'milky way' within the photoshop app and scroll to page 2. licence is free for commercial use with no attribution required. https://pixabay.com/photos/galaxy-star-infinity-cosmos-dark-3608029/

It is contentious - I add a byline to any of my own pictures on this site which includes anything sourced from elsewhere - indeed, on the rare occasion I go down that route, my preferred choice is to use my own sky.

This competition is, thank God, not along the same lines as you will find at your local photographic society. It's generally an exercise in practising post processing.

Very happy to comply if anyone feels rules need clarifying or updating (but please don't make it complicated).
