That is really good. You can occasionally get refurbs for $650 but you have to be patient. Looks like a good seller too. Someone lusting after a 12/2 but put off by the new price should jump on this.

I got mine new from lozeau for 499 .. couldn't believe the deal. Still ended up selling it, though. :)

That is a great deal on a 12/2!

I picked up my 9-18 from Cameta for $550 or thereabouts. Looks they're out of stock right now, good hunting.

I tried to ignore that listing when I saw it on FM. It's not helping my GAS that you're cross-posting it over here.

I've been considering renting one of these for an upcoming trip. At this price I'm sure I could purchase and re-sell it for less than the cost of the rental, but I'm afraid that I'd never get around to the "re-sell it" part.

lol. I was shopping a 9-18, and this is essentially the same price. It really caused me to double-clutch.

I really really want that lens, but it's sooo expensive for me. If I bought it it would be the only lens I'd have. I don't know how that would work for me if I plan to travel to Mexico this summer.

It is wide for your only lens.

I'd say a kit zoom plus one prime. 20, 25, or 45. That would cost less than even this used 12/2 and much more versatile.

If you want to stick to primes only then get the 14/2.5 from eBay for around 170 and one of the 20, 25 or 45.

Thank goodness it finally sold. Now I can stop obsessing about it and get on with kicking myself for missing out on such a great deal.
