This one is the area where Western and Eastern physiographic divisions of Europe meets, so a number of a slides cound be found.
I could be there only in the mid-day, so the light was rather harsh. But wanted to try LiveND.

Challenge will close at 11.59am CET on Saturday, June 19th 2021.

----------

Post-Processing Challenge Rules
  1. The Challenge Master provides an image or images to be "improved" upon by way of post-processing, as well as a closing date for entries.
  2. Entrants are to post their entries, visible in this thread, at a resolution of 1000 to 1600 pixels in the longest dimension, prior to the closing date.
  3. Each entrant is allowed two entries in the Challenge.
  4. At the close of the Challenge, the Challenge Master will select a Winner and Runners-up.
  5. The Winner of the challenge is honored as the Master of the next Challenge.

Notes:
  • Images provided by Challenge Masters must be their own. They are posted solely for the purpose of this Challenge; not to invite critique or criticism nor for other uses. If Entrants post their entries at a photo sharing site, they should credit the owner of the original image.
  • "Improve" is a subjective term, and may include many creative ideas, as well as traditional "fixing". The Challenge Master agrees that Entrants may make any changes they deem fit in their entries.
  • Entrants are strongly encouraged to share the tools and techniques used for their entries, however this is not a requirement for entry.
  • Compositing is allowed provided the use of the donor image does not violate any licensing or copyright restrictions.
  • As we all know, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. The Challenge Master is encouraged (but not required) to state the criteria used to decide upon a Winner. While we may not all agree with the result, the Challenge Master's decision is final. Please refrain from posting adverse comment.
  • If the Winner is unable to post a new Challenge within five days, the honor passes to the next Runner-up.

Very little to improve on, IMHO
But here we go. Processing in DT3.4
The overall exposure was good straight out of the box. Increase overall contrast of the image, added some local contrast.
A light exposure gradient filter over the top and bottom off the image, pulling the eye more in.
Added a color zones with a drawn and parametric mask to increase the greens of the moss on the trees
Added a color zones with a drawn mask over the river to reduce the greens/browns in the river
Small crop, the info sign on the right annoys me, but I left it in
Added overall sharpness.

Entry #1. I agree with the others: beautiful shot and very little to do. Edited raw file in DxO PL4 then tweaked and cropped in Elements.

I see that we have come down to a 51 hour challenge, that feels a little short, but I guess the OP Zapp DJR has a reason so it will definitely not stop me from participating.
So here is Entry #1:

#1 In NIK Silver Efex I used a preset called Antique plate and made a few more adjustments.

As an experiment I used the colorize filter in the Photoshop neural filters to recolorize the Black and white of entry #1

Entry 1

Played with the hue and saturation controls in photoshop to bring out the reds and greens. Lightened the centre, darkened the edges. Softened the trees with an Orton effect in ON1. Added a canvas texture and border.

...

🙂

The reasons are:
- I think that 72h is maybe to long,
- 60h seems to be a good balance.

I didn't want to delay the challenges, so started this one as soon as I could. Unfortunately 60h from start would pass somewhere at the beginnig of the Sat night (CET), and probably I would not have time to review the entries at that time. (And I was right - seeing even the entries so far I will definitely need some time to choose...).

We have 51h this time - apologies to those who feel it's too short. Hope it would not stop anyone from participating 🙂

We briefly tried 48 hours about a year ago, and moved to 60 as the compromise:

https://www.mu-43.com/threads/48-ho...581-closed-results-posted.109097/post-1405395

I think it has been working OK, but we could revisit it if necessary. I also think anything in the 48 to 72 hour range on any particular challenge is fine, especially if holidays, travel, or the schedule of the challenge master is a concern.
