Our last trip, before Covid-19 disturbed everybody's lives, was to Istanbul. In fact, our second visit to this interesting city.
To play with, I present You with a scene, shot in the "warren" that forms the Grand Bazaar.

Challenge runs until July 6th around Noon.

Usual blabla nobody reads:
48-Hour Post-Processing Challenge Rules

The Challenge Master provides an image or images to be "improved" upon by way of post-processing, as well as a closing date for entries.
  1. Entrants are to post their entries, visible in this thread, at a resolution of 1000 to 1600 pixels in the longest dimension, prior to the closing date.
  2. Each entrant is allowed two entries in the Challenge.
  3. At the close of the Challenge, the Challenge Master will select a Winner and Runners-up.
  4. The Winner of the challenge is honoured as the Master of the next Challenge

Notes:
  • Any/all source images used for the challenge must be the Challenge Master's own images. They are posted solely for the purpose of this Challenge; not to invite critique or criticism nor for other uses. If Entrants post their entries at a photo sharing site, they should credit the owner of the original image.
  • "Improve" is a subjective term, and may include many creative ideas, as well as traditional "fixing". The Challenge Master agrees that Entrants may make any changes they deem fit in their entries.
  • Entrants are strongly encouraged to share the tools and techniques used for their entries, however this is not a requirement for entry.
  • As we all know, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. The Challenge Master is encouraged (but not required) to state the criteria used to decide upon a Winner. While we may not all agree with the result, the Challenge Master's decision is final. Please refrain from posting adverse comment.
  • If the Winner is unable to post a new Challenge within five days, the honor passes to the next Runner-up.

Entry 1

Highlight/shadow/black/white parameters set in lightroom. Colour space is Adobe colour.
Colour noise reduced by about 60% in lightroom, luminosity noise by about 50%.

In photoshop, after some searching for something that worked (owing to the bizarre lighting), colour balance neutralised on the rectangular sign on the pillar to the right. Verticals corrected. Slight increase to contrast. Back to Adobe camera raw and added a radial filter to lighten and warm the centre of the photo. Back to PS to apply a smart sharpen.

Well, if you wanted to make it a challenge, you succeeded! Eighteen different colours of light and not a single vertical/horizontal line that makes sense. I loved my trip to Turkey 10 years ago, the place is amazing.

Very nice challenge. Edited raw file, first in DxO PL2 then in Elements. Fiddled, as usual, with light levels, etc. and applied haze reduction locally to several areas and tried to warm up the central area to make it less blue using Nik Color Efex.

From the raw file, through my usual DxO, Gimp, and Nik Tools. I don't know why I hate the "no smoking" sign. Too distracting, I guess.

Interesting shot. Lots to peek at and explore. Exposure X5, as is, and then the 'Polarchrome' filter with some slight cropping.
