My new E-PL1 is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I'm confident that I want/need a telephoto lens in addition to my 14-42mm kit lens. I have been looking at the 40-150mm with the m43 adaptor.

Having a sharp lens is important to me. I have read several reviews and I'm uncertain if the 40-150mm is as sharp as the Panasonic 45-200mm. Can anyone provide first hand information and pictures to assist me in deciding?

Should I be considering any other alternatives?

Thanks in advance for your assistance

I have used 40-150mm with E-PL1 and I am very satisfied with the sharpness of this combo. I have posted a full-size pic with 40-150 in the E-PL1 gallery and you can check the resolution and compare to the 45-200 image. I personally cant compare to 45-200 since I dont own it but the other advantage may be the extra 50mm of reach.

Keep in mind you can also use the 70-300 should you want to go that far, there is another thread that even links to some pics taken with that combination.

I'll let you know in a couple of days - expecting delivery of my 40-150 MkII tomorrow  (I currently have MkI, and understand the differences in IQ are minimal)

Note that B&H have a package deal on at the moment for 40-150 + MMF-2 for $199.00 - code OL4015040K. Pretty good deal.....

I'm holding out for the soon to be released 14-150 which is a newer optical and mechanical design more perfect with the Mft system. Faster to focus and more ideal for video with a silent motor. $600 but I'll still wait for it. Could end up on my PL1 80% of the time.........

Because of the deal, I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the 199 with the adapter. When the 14-150 comes down, maybe I'll get that and sell the 40-150.
