    w/ 2x extender = 2000mm FOV in 35mm
The wall is about 75 to 100 yards behind the flag.

This lens needs to be podded, the extremely narrow FOV creates beacoup handshake and the slow/blurry updates on the LVF1 are a killer.

They are difficult to use hand-held on the camera's they were originally designed for.

I have an old 500mm f8 mirror that I bought for my Pentaxes and have never even tried it on my Panasonic G2.
It was pretty difficult to use on my Pentax MX, even though that camera had a ground glass focussing screen (the old style split image focussing aid would have been useless).
I would much prefer if these heavy lenses had a tripod mount on the lens as I wonder whether the amount of leverage applied by the lens could cause damage to the mount.

I didn't have much of a problem using these lenses with film. This Nikkor has a tripod collar. At f/8 the bottom of the split would black out. One could easily change the focusing screen with the old Nikon F series. I'm gonna try a pod and see if the results improve.

The LVF1 is a real killer the updates are so slow and with the constant handshake, even though minimal, the view is one big blur. Between the scene being OOF and the blurry updates, one only gets a 'snatch' of time for focus.

I really like the look of the flower shots. That lens gives it a real artsy feel.
