Once upon a lifetime ago, I would walk with my grandfather around shows of these old machines under steam while powering lumber saws or threshing machines. They were the machines of his childhood and he dearly loved seeing them under full steam. This would have been a little one for a small farm. He could be as big a geek about those old machines as I can be over my favorite toys.

I saw this one sitting in the parking lot of a north-wood's antique store some time ago and have been meaning to stop for ages. I made some time this morning and, the good lord willing, I'll stop again with my large format gear as well - the steering worm would be interesting to do as a 5x7 contact print.

So for you, Grampa Bill. :drinks:

You should come down to Baraboo for the Badger steam & gas show. They have loads of stuff like this. It's coming up soon, I think.

Aug 15 to 18 - Much as I'd like otherwise, alas, the family has plans at the other end of the state that weekend. Next year, in Baraboo! ;)

Just make a trip downtown while you visit Baraboo. Market on the square, tours of the historic theatre, etc.
