Just got my 14mm panny for the ep3.
Tried it on and immediately I feel like the lens is super loud.
I can hear the blades clicking after every shot..I thought the 14mm was super quiet? Did I get a bad used one?

Looks like you do, my 14mm is the most quiet lens among my m4/3 lens.
I use it on my EPL-1 and EM-5 no loud noise whatsoever.

I've noticed the "rattle snake" sound for mine as well. AF noise is pretty minimal though.

Baby rattlesnake with my E-P3 - nothing like as loud as the 25mm though.

i think this is the case for me. AF noise is indeed minimal. After looking at it more intently, I realized it's not when the camera is focusing specifically. It has happened though when it was focusing also though...

Funny thing is I test shot the 25mm at BH photo. I know it's super loud in there but I didn't hear a thing.

Maybe I'm just paranoid? I never heard anything remotely like this on my 14-42mm kit lens. :x

I will test some more shots. If 14mm do indeed have rattlesnake noise I guess I can't do anything about it. I thought it was only the 20mm!

I'm sure it's just a Panasonic lens on an Olympus body issue. None of my O lenses (14-42 IIR, 14-150, 45mm, 17mm) make the "rattle". The P 14mm, 20mm and 25mm all do to some extentb.

It does seem to be more likely to click/rattle in varying light - which makes sense. When you tried the 25mm, was it on a Panasonic body by any chance or in fairly constant lighting conditions?

I get some click/rattle as well when I have my Panny 14mm and 20mm on my EP-3. Definitely is worse with drastic light changes - I think it is an Oympus/Panny issue - but both lenses work fine and take wonderful shots.

i'm kinda glad that it sounds to be a normal occurence for most users.
i was just really surprised to hear such a sound! i don't think it affects the photos obviously and given the seller's great feedback on FM, i think ill be keeping it. sorry for the noob-freakout!
