My 14-45 kit lens rubber zoom ring detached itself from the lens body.
Do you have any recommendations on how to fix this? :frown:

    I don't know.
I take care of my gear, so I don't think it can be from misuse.

I first noticed it when I was on a trip few days ago. I've noticed it when I was taking my camera out of a camera bag. Now the rubber band is all wobbly and it looks like it is too big, like it needs to be shrinked, refitted or something...weird.

I'll try to post some pics of it.

Here is what I was talking about:

the entire ring seems like it is too big for the lens barrel

That's odd but I would cut a few slots out. Then size it to fit. I'd use maybe some Crazy Glue to reattach it.....there may be better adhesives but that stuff really works.....

Looks like a failure of the adhesive holding the rubber to the lens... first time I've seen this. Has the lens experienced any extremes of heat?

Is the camera still under warranty?

    Cheers

Thx, I will try this if the store won't help me.

I don't think so. Nothing above normal (e.g. when you carry camera in a black photo bag for couple of hours)

I believe it is. I bought it last year, mid September from J&R.
