The black one is discontinued on B&H site. Hope Panasonic is developing bug-free version.

What sorts of "bugs" does this lens have?

I've not used my copy much, but so far it has been okay. I'm using it for 'compact camera' travel duties when I want to take less.

I think they might just give up on the power zooms for now. 45-175 is being cleared out as well. It seems like Panasonic hopes of being able to charge more for them did not pan out so they just made the regular 14-42 and 45-150 look fancy and discontinued the power zooms.

It's not wholly the fault of the lens, but shutter-induced blur at 25+mm is my major complaint.

I couldn't find a dedicated 14-42 PZ image thread. If there isn't one, maybe it's because of all the 'issues' and bad press? I've hardly used my copy, but exercised it a little today. This was not the main subject, but while I was out and the clouds were up, why not?

The problems showed up between 1/60 and 1/160 shutter speeds, IIRC. A few threads about the issue, maybe a year ago?

    Yep, understood.

I was just looking for a dedicated image thread to share a snapshot.

Well, I thought the 14-42, 14-42PZ & the 14-45 were all going to be dicontinued and to be replaced by the 14-42 MkII. Last week i went into my local Panasonic store and they had the GF6 with the 14-42MkII. I was told they will take stock of the G6 later on in the week. I went in there this weekend, they had the G6 but with the standard 14-42 .

Maybe clearing stock of the old lens.?

Exactly. The 14-45 and 45-200 for example haven't been manufactured for quite a while. There's simply an enormous amount of unsold stock to work through. Of course, once it's gone, it's gone...

I can understand clearing old stock, but why have the new MkII version on the GF6 which is the new base model and have the old version on the G6?
I suppose only someone in Panasonic can answer that one.

I imagine the thinking is along the lines of 'the G6 is a much larger camera, so customers won't mind it being bundled with a larger lens.'

Yep, you're probably right, though I was a bit dissapointed when I saw the old lens on the G6. I was thing of getting it at the end of the year and was hoping they would of done a twin lens kit with the 14-42 MkII & the 45-150, like they are doing with the GF6.

B&H has a habit of marking items as "discontinued" if they've been out of stock for a while (something like 30 days), regardless of whether or not they've been end-of-lifed by the manufacturer.
