    Hi all

I recently bought a 12.5mm cosmicar c mount lens and it does not currently focus to infinity... This didn't surprise me.

However when I screwed it in to the mount, I noticed the lens extends inside and if I file it, it will more so. Will it be safe to use after filing? (I mean not damage the shutter and/or camera.)

The register for m43 (distance from sensor to the lens flange) is 20mm. Measure the the distance from the flange to the extreme back of the lens. If it's less than 20mm you should be safe.

    Be very, very careful!

While it is true that for micro four thirds the distance from the lens flange to the photosensitive surface of the sensor is 20mm, there are items in front of this, such as the anti-aliasing filter and, presumably, some form of shutter mechanism.

With the adapter mounted to the camera (no lens) measure the distance to the last baffle (the sutter is behind that baffle). You now can figure how much clearence there is behind the adapter.
