12-32mm Stopped Focusing

My Panasonic 12-32mm f3.5-5.6 stopped working the other day. It's my most used lens but I can't say I have used it for that many shots that it should stop working already. It's probably only taken under 2500 shots.

Turning it to zoom one day, when it was hot outside, it got suddenly stiff. And then it wouldn't focus. No MF on that lens so I was dead in the water.

Is this a known issue? Should I sell it for parts and buy a new one? Thanks!

That lens is held together with 2 sided sticky tape, just like a '70's era Sigma lens. When it's hot out the adhesive gets soft and then looses it's grip on the parts it's supposed to be holding together. This is a common problem with the lens. If you're very careful, you can use a few drops of super glue to hold it together. A better solution is to get a 20mm/1.7 Panasonic lens, which is an excellent lens and doesn't come apart in your hands.

Anyone have an idea of how hot is too hot?
