No, very true. I just moved to Colorado a couple of months ago so now I'm even farther from surf. BUT, I'm close to the mountains so that's a plus for me.

Thank you! Thank you! Ah, I see. Guess I'm a little slow. Weed is not my thing though, guys. Legal or not. Thanks Steven. I use Photomatix. I'm still learning though, there's plenty I see in my photos that can be improved just don't know how to do it yet. For instance the...

    Moved to Colorado

I haven't posted here for a while. I recently moved to Colorado and have had a few opportunities to get out for a few day hikes. Here are a few pics from some of the hikes. BTW, the Rokinon 7.5 is becoming a favorite landscape lens of mine. I'd love to eventually get the 7-14, but...

Very cool. Haven't been down in that area yet. I'm hoping to get back to the TN River in the next couple of weeks. Wanna take some video and pics from the top. The video from the boat looks cool, but I think it'll be better from the top.

Melbourne Bayside on a sunny afternoon.

I agree with you, part of the joy of photography for me is coming home to edit the photos. I know everyone has their own opinions, but I personally like making images look bolder or different than they do with my natural eye. I can see them that way anytime I like, photography is a way for me...

I actually love your processing, not too bold at all in my opinion. What do you use if you don't mind me asking? I love the compositions in this set too. That second shot really grabs my attention with the beautiful lighting.

    G5 worth it?

IMO, if you can hold off for a while I would. Panasonic seems to have a history of dramatically slashing the prices of their camera bodies after several months. Go with the G3 and wait for the G5 to come down. Invest more in lenses.

First attempt at HDR. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I think your HDR shots look really good. I did notice the halos as well, but me being another noob at HDR I'm finding it challenging to get rid of them. Your shots don't looked "over-cooked" as some people say and it does look good. Although my personal opinion is that if you like that more...

    Appalachian Trail-Georgia

Thank you! It took us 5 days to do 63 miles. We met people on the trail though that were section hiking that were doing about 18 a day. Thanks for the nice complement! Good luck convincing your wife to do the trail! That would be so cool. My wife has no interest at all, but my 6 year old...

    Appalachian Trail-Georgia

A couple of weeks ago I was able to go with some of our youth from church to do a week long hike on the Appalachian Trail. Be patient! Your order will come.

Yeah....um, I get a little obsessive once my items ship. I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to maps and geography, so when I was waiting on one of my lenses to ship (can't even remember which one now) I set up a Google Map that tracked each location my lens stopped at. That way I could, in a...

Just received my lens yesterday. I've only had a chance to fire off a few test shots around the house, but first impressions are this lens is a gem and is going to be a lot of fun to use. Some initial observations: Gotta keep my fingers out of the frame. This thing is wide! Build quality...

Dave, it was an absolutely beautiful weekend to be out. I couldn't have asked for more pleasant weather. This was my first trip to the walls, but I'll be back. I haven't been to Cherokee Rock Village. Do you ever go to Sipsey? I really like that area too.

m43 is too slow for taking pictures of kids...

Kids are my main subjects, which is one reason I got into photography in the first place; to take photos of my kids while they're still young! I came from a Pentax K-x, and my current setup seems to lock focus faster than the K-x. At any rate, here are a couple of shots. I do admit indoors...
