Got a Miops water drop kit, after about 5 hours of fiddling about I think I got a few good ‘uns. Lots to learn technique wise but getting there! Shot with R plus Canon F2.8 IS USM 100 Macro and yangnuo flash.

Yep needs lots of practice. Still I like the shot and the fact the image is so good in such low light. In the photo below i got the lower eyelid not the eye so you can see how sliver thin the dof is at f1.2 so really sweet fstoop is f2 but in low light you need the apature wide open So in this...

My latest foray into FF mirrorless - and why I'm sticking with m43

Have not been around on this site for a while as I have been totally engrossed with my FF kit. Moved from Canon 5D mark 1V to an Eos R. Have found that the frustrations of trying to get a good shot of a flying bird in bad light on my G9 have been replaced by other distractions. Clearly im just...

    Huge design fault with G9

Of course it is a design issue. An ant can lift a higher multiple of its body weight than a elephant, but can it take a photograph?

    Huge design fault with G9

Well regarding the above event which happened last year, I recently moved up to a Canon R, which makes great companion for my G9. Had a fall the other day tripped over a chain. Clutching my Canon R with my new 50MM F1.2 on board I hit the ground pretty hard and properly banged the camera (and...

    Huge design fault with G9

Very good point! Maybe I take the positive spin, it is designed to fail; but for a good reason! I will be taking it up with the camera shop when I get back from hols will update further then.

    Huge design fault with G9

I have been doing a bit of rough stuff in the field as it were and if I did my usual sedate work with the camera in a proper bag etc this would probably not have happened. Its not the end of the world but just wanted to bring it to the attention of G9 users. Maybe get a silicon body cover to...

    Huge design fault with G9

I probably agree with you. Its just annoying when it happens without any reason, I dont recall any impact that could have caused this but there is a mark on the corner of the cover so I guess I did bang it off something. I am sure it will continue to work but it seems clear to me from the design...

    Huge design fault with G9

For me it is a design fault; or maybe a “design error” is a better phrase. The plastic hinge cover coud easily be made from the same material as the body, it might cost a few dollars more but not much. It is the corner of the camera and therefore more likely to get a ding now and then. Lets see...

    Huge design fault with G9

My G9 must have had a bump, I certainly didn’t notice it but came back to the table to find the housing for the screen hinge had “fallen off” and the screw lug was in pieces. How can they make a magnesium body camera with a part that is so easily damaged??!!!

Going on safari and need a Longer lens

good luck. You will find the best lens is the 100/400 and the biggest challenge is getting the light in the right place!. The key thing will be to get the sun behind you or at 90” if you have a polarising on there. So you need a guide who understands this in the first place (clearly you do but...

what photography related item did you buy this week?

Well a turn up for the books I was in the last throes of buying a Sony A9 and pulled out and bought this. I want to use it for birding the light is so bad in the UK I am fed up binning good pics because the picture is noisy or not quite sharp. Now that could be down to poor technique (most...
