    Olympus 45mm f/1.2 vs 45mm f/1.8

@ijm5012 The samples do not do justice to the 45/1.2 PRO. The different will be more apparent with full body portrait, where the 1.2 will shine. But I agree the 45/1.8 is a gem, I replaced my 42.5/1.7 with the 45 too as I didn't like the somewhat busy/rush bokeh coming from the 42.5. Either...

OLY 45mm F1.2 Pro Reviewed at LensTip

My brother having the E-M1 Mark II has bought the 45/1.2 PRO and we've compared it vs my Nocticron. I'd say that center sharpness difference, if any, is very, VERY negligible. The photos however look somewhat different with either lens. The Nocticron set to 1.2 has more pop to the image, can't...

    AF speed on Olympus cameras

I tried few lenses, mainly the 25/1.2 & 15/1.7, but yeah Panasonic focus a lot faster and more accurately, mainly when the subject of focus is closed to the camera... So everyone is saying that it would be the same with the E-M10 II for example, right? I thought it's because of E-PL7.

    AF speed on Olympus cameras

Ever since I got my E-PL7, I noticed that S-AF speed in dimmer light is getting hard for the camera. It's way faster & accurate with my G85. Is this something to do with E-PL7 or Olympus cameras in general? Would E-M10 Mark II or E-M5 Mark II give be better AF performance than E-PL7?

    Olympus 14-42mm II R vs Panasonic 12-32mm

Apart from 12mm vs 14mm / 42mm vs 32mm, can anyone share which one of them is optically superior? I would like to stay away from 12-32mm as I know it terns to break easily, but it's much small when collapsed, is 12mm, and maybe optically better? Just not sure.

E-M10 II EVF compared to GX85

I sold the GX85 because I couldn't use the EVF, it was too small and I prefer it in the center. Since then I bought the G85 and I love the EVF of the camera. However I want to buy a small 2nd compact body. Can anyone please share if the EVF on the E-M10 II is better than the one on the GX85? If...

    Panasonic GX9

Damien, I think the GX9 will appeal for many consumers. I would be one of them 1.5 years ago before I started to appreciate a mic port and weather sealing. It's just somewhat disappointing that there is no higher end RF style camera in the Lumix line anymore, which leads me to wait for the...

    Panasonic GX9

  23. MxPhotos

    Panasonic GX9

I agree with you that doesn't prove a thing, but combined with the fact that the GX9 shares way more features and attributes from the GX85 does prove it.
  24. MxPhotos

    Panasonic GX9

Yes. No mic input, no buy. Simple as that.
  25. MxPhotos

    Panasonic GX9

The grip on GX7 was superb, I don't know what Panasonic is thinking with this crappy non-existent grips. What's the problem to put that kind of grip on newer RF cameras??
  26. MxPhotos

    Panasonic GX9

Even more proof that GX9 replaces GX85 is that it shares the same battery as the GX85, the DMW-BLG10, vs DMW-BLC12 on the GX8.
  27. MxPhotos

    Panasonic GX9

Thanks Damien. How it can replace the GX8 if the GX8 is weather sealed, has a mic port, 8000 ss, much better EVF, fully articulating LCD, better grip, etc? It shares more features with the GX85 than the GX8. And it's a very strange move to sell it together with the 12-60mm kit lens which is...

I don't know why but this makes me even more confused :dash2:
  29. MxPhotos

    Panasonic GX9

This might be true if it had the GX7's grip. The grip in GX8 seems like GX85, which is just terrible  It's also max 4000 SS vs 8000 on GX7, and 180 flash sync vs 250. So still you get some downgrades over the many years old GX7.

    Panasonic GX9

I keep thinking about the G9 but man the size and weight of it really turns me down... and I don't need high speed shooting capabilities anyways. I guess I'll wait to see what Olympus has to offer with their E-M5 Mark III. I wish it will be decent in 4k video as I'm a hybrid stills + video user.
  32. MxPhotos

    Panasonic GX9

That's what I hoped for but the GX9 seems like a GX85 Mark II, with too many compromises. Too bad.
  33. MxPhotos

    Panasonic GX9

Apart from better IBIS and shutter the GX8 is a better camera in every other way.
  34. MxPhotos

    Panasonic GX9

Having seen the pictures I don't think there is a mic port which for me is a deal breaker on it's own. It's also not weather sealed and has only one physical custom button. -.- I will hold to my G85, although I always prefer RF style cameras.

The siren call of full frame

I had the siren call few times, but as a hybrid shooter, stills + video (50/50) there is no substitute for m43 just because the great IBIS in video. I only shoot handheld and a superb IBIS is a must for me. Sony has IBIS but it's crap when panning and walking in video. I tried. There are many...

    GX850 or E-PL7

Really? Strange, I definitely see a difference in AF speed on my G85 with PL15 vs Oly25/45. It's not night and day but there is a difference.
  37. MxPhotos

    GX850 or E-PL7

Is the single AF really that much better on the GX85 vs the E-PL7? DFD only works with Panasonic lenses, my small primes are mainly Olympus 25/45 I wonder how much big of a difference I'll see.
  38. MxPhotos

    GX850 or E-PL7

That's a very detailed comparison on some of the things that are really important for daily use, thanks for that! I find the color noise worse in the GX85 than older cameras I had, like the GX7. Not sure why it that. For the money I think I can't go wrong with the E-PL7, $255 with the kit lens...

    GX850 or E-PL7

When I had the GX85 I hated the EVF, never used it. Probably because I look with my left eye, so a DSLR style placement of an EVF is way better for me. I also hated how small magnification the EVF had. That's I love my G85. So for, the EVF on the GX85 was pretty useless.

    GX850 or E-PL7

Thanks for the detailed info much appreciated. Can you please share what intangible advantages E-PL7 has over the GX80?
  41. MxPhotos

    GX850 or E-PL7

That's exactly my consideration. Ultra Lightweight (GX850) vs IBIS (E-PL7). I really don't care about metal vs plastic.
  42. MxPhotos

    GX850 or E-PL7

I'm not going to keep the 14-42 kit lens, going to replace it with 12-32 for sure, so the weight difference is around 70g. The Oly 25/1.8 or 45/1.8 will be there most of the time, and not the zoom. To be honest it's not just the weight, it's the body size aswell. GX85 is quite a bit larger than...
  43. MxPhotos

    GX850 or E-PL7

I've considered it but I'd like to utilize these great small primes I have like the 25/1.8 and the 30 Macro. As of now I'm still leaning towards the E-PL7 due to IBIS.
  44. MxPhotos

    GX850 or E-PL7

Hmm.. E-PL5/6 weight 325g vs 357g of E-PL7. It's not that major of a difference. GX850 weights 269g which is a lot less. Can you share why the E-PL7 is a better camera than GX850 other than IBIS?
