'How To Frame A Spectacular But Boring Sunset'

Yeah there wasn't much there... Sunsets need water, trees, clouds, buildings or just something else. Pretty boring stuff, but an interesting representation of the thirds rule.

DP Review posts preview of 35-100/2.8

I can't read the DPreview forums anymore. When I first bought into mu4/3 they were arguing between Panasonic and Olympus, than it moved to mu4/3 against Sony (NEX), now it is all about DOF. I go there sometimes but am immediately turned off by the hostility. Much better here :)

    Nightshot practice kinda hard

Fair enough, I don't know much about the technical aspect, just sharing some thoughts from my experience with that lens. Obviously a faster lens will get much better results if you can find a focus point. This pic was taken using the 20mm wide open. <a...

    Nightshot practice kinda hard

I should also add that if you're doing landscapes, don't be afraid of bumping the aperture up to 12 or even higher. Since you are using a tripod anyways, you don't have to worry about shutter speed. When doing landscapes with a high aperture, the foreground and background will be in focus...

    Nightshot practice kinda hard

I agree with what ~tc~ said. Landscape photos at night are tricky, especially if there isn't a full moon. I would recommend that you find a subject for your foreground (house, bridge, etc) that you can manual focus on. Try an urban setting instead of the country, you'll get more light...

    Three Long Years (pic heavy!!)

B&W Portraits Thanks for the kind words everyone! I meant to post this a couple of days ago, however I was out of town for a bit. This set of pics was shot using my fathers old minolta 58mm f1.4 lens. All shots were indoors under low light situations, at iso 400 or higher. A really enjoy...

Time to replace GF1? With what?

I'm in the same boat... The improved DR is my biggest wish, not too picky about noise improvement.

    Three Long Years (pic heavy!!)

People - Full body shots First off, thanks to everyone for the kind words! I really appreciate it! For the next category, I chose "people". This is one area that the small system cameras really shine at. The GF1 with 20mm is so unassuming that it is easy to catch a candid full body shot of...

    Three Long Years (pic heavy!!)

Thanks guys! After taking thousands of pics it wasn't too hard to scrape together some nice shots :$. @tdekany, most of these were taken with the original 14-45mm panasonic lens, however the 20mm might have been used for a couple. I didn't do too much PP, just boosted the black point and...

    Three Long Years (pic heavy!!)

Hi all, At the end of this September it will have been three years since I have had my GF1. Through that time it has always been at my side, and I couldn't even guess at how many pictures I have taken with it. To commemorate this milestone I thought that I would share some of my...

    Panasonic Announces the GH3

This is going to be a tough call for me personally. I've had the GF1 for three years and have been looking at a replacement for it. The pictures of it "in hand" make it look about the same size as an entry level APSC camera, so the size increase doesn't bother me. I will be interested to see...
