    Olly 75mm 1.8 What's Going On Here?

Happy to move this to another post, instead of cluttering this one. But that's not all that stored in DNG files. It keeps additional information. If you want to play devil's advocate I'm sure it can't decode 100% of all raw file data, but in cases like this the processing difference is what...

Slightly off topic from the original, but what "adobe treatment"? The DNG is saving of the bayer pattern.

The joy of appendixes, vs fixing the primary information in the manual. Thanks for the correction! (of course Seq-L on the EM1.2 is as fast as Seq-H on the EM1.1)

    C&C Too much?

What size are you displaying this on? On a 15" laptop the bird is a smudge. On a 24" or 27" it may be more of a bird, but still doesn't really make a topic for the picture. The clouds look like the topic to me, not the bird. The blue/yellow gradient on the second one is way over done on my...

Your second photo is focused in front the runner (you can check the ground in front of him and see where the focus is approximately. The third photo with the woman I can't tell if it's front focused, it sort of looks like it. With CAF, you potentially need to focus-micro-adjust your lenses...

New E-M1 mkII firmware w AF enhancements; +minor new E-M1X fw

Check your timeouts/idle/etc, you may be running different than what you ran on the em1.1, or as others have said, exploring the menus constantly uses up more battery with a new camera. fyi, I have sleep set to 60 seconds, LCD to 30 seconds, and Auto-Power-Off to 1h. I have sleep set to 60 seconds, LCD to 30 seconds, and Auto-Power-Off to 1h. All under Gear-J2. I also turn off the EVF/LCD auto detect, and just use the EVF. However EVF VS LCD power consumption is about the same, turning off the auto detect results in less time being on if you have it...

    BLH-1 Chargers

@Amol Thorat if you are coming from pretty much any of the other olympus cameras, the battery life on the em1.2 with the newer battery type lasts about twice as long (compared to my em1.1 I had previously). So with that in mind, you can evaluate just getting an olympus battery. Two batteries...

I have one of those double units, it take the same plates that are on all the small no-name chargers. I've used it to charge a BLH and BLN battery at the same time (and 2x of the same also). I just leave it in overnight, and unplug it. You can pick up one of these -...

Big issue with Adobe DNG Converter

It looks like the green ear is just noise-reduction in Adobe conversions, here's a 200% crop with Color Noise Reduction set to 0 (from the default 25, which was green-ear), and sharpening set to 0 (default 40). This is with ACR w/ Bridge, but lightroom is the same engine. So it's just digital...

Big issue with Adobe DNG Converter

Using ACR in Bridge (latest CC versions) the ORF and the DNG look the same. Both have green-tint in the ears. Loading up the ORF into Olympus Workspace 3, the green tint is still there, but far less obvious. So Olympus is processing slightly differently than Adobe. No real surprise, just...

E-M1: black screen/EVF and stuck in MF

Actually you can upgrade firmware via SDcard, you download the firmware, and put it on an SDcard in a particular way. E-M1: black screen/EVF and stuck in MF

Rubbing alcohol and clean the contacts on the lens. Try wiping off the contacts on the camera body also. Upgrade firmware and/or Reset to factory defaults to start with. The EM1.1 requires a "custom" usb cable (em1.2 uses usb-c) to do this. Local camera store and some good will to try...

    Modified firmware, looking for users

UHS-II cards are backwards compatible with UHS-I. They physically have additional pins on the cards that don't interface with anything on things that don't support UHS-II. Net-net, they will work at "UHS-I" speeds. What that equates to though, I'm unsure. Probably depends on the card and the...

Everything fails, get a UHS-II card if the camera supports it, it will be much faster than UHS-I cards. Anything you buy from Amazon, validate it's not a counterfeit before putting it to use (I've had bad lexar and sandisk this way). I'm a fan of transcend, and this works in my EM1.2 & PenF...

Do you have an EDC camera bag?

Yea the F2 started with my canon gear, and then just got lighter with m43 gear. I was hoping the peak designs sling would work like and 803, but it just doesn't operate like a working bag, more like a storage thing. Trivia/Tip - A bottle of wine can fit in the end pockets of the F2. :)

I think I've looked at it, but I think I'll miss the end pockets. But like all bags, you never can tell until you try it out :) I'll have to go find one to sling in a store and compare it to a more messenger f803 or similar....

    OM-D E-M1 Mk II for OM-D E-M1 Mk I users?

Better battery life was probably the most noticeable the quickest for me. Your battery is twice the size though, so it's not really a surprise. Slightly different ergonomics, but I got mine with the RRS bottom plate due to having large hands, and having one on my mk1. No worry about the thumb...

Do you have an EDC camera bag?

Domke F2 mostly, assorted camera gear depending. I've been trying out the peak design 10l to downsize, but I'm not sold on it. I don't like that I can't put it down flat, and the pocket design is a little annoying after getting very used to the Domke. I'm debating picking up a smaller Domke...

I think we're in agreement, and yes, you stated earlier the "crutch" was editorial addition vs Valerie's statement. Thankfully I've not awash in fuji presets, i'm tired of seeing all the post work with the washed out blacks (crushed/lifted blacks), which i associate with instagram mostly. I...

Reliance on Manufacturer JPEG Styles Too Much Is a Crutch

FYI, the writer of the article is the introduction of the word "crutch", not the photographer. The video was an interesting watch as it's...

Did Adobe send you a Scary Letter yet?

Just quickly, it appears to do clarity, but with less "blacks". I'm sure it's more complex then that as the Adobe Blog post showed that it was originally designed for smoothing skin on faces (soft focus-esque) better then negative clarity did. And then they decided to to make it opposite of...

    E-m1 II in-camera raw editing -- usable?

There aren't any in-camera raw editing features on the em1.2 to the best of my knowledge. There are JPEG modifications that can be made so the Jpeg's straight out of camera have different settings on them. This includes Constrast/Saturation/Sharpness levels. A basic contrast curve that you...

How Much Better is the Auto Focus of the OM-D-E-M5 Mark II?

BBF for me allows rapid focus acquisition since you can "smush" the focus button without worrying about shooting the picture, if you set exposure lock to 1/2 press (don't remember the mode), then you can recompose and still have exposure correct most of the time also. It also allows you to...
