    After much deliberation... PL25!

Yeah I know but I like to shoot macro as well. Obviously the focus is going to have a whole lot more travel than any other non-macro lens. I was more inquiring about the focus motor's coupling with the ring, the PL25 seems to mostly have 1:1 movement, when I turn it and it happens immediately...

    After much deliberation... PL25!

Just got it! Woo. Pretty chunky lol, no one really mentions just how much better the MF ring is on this thing. The MF on the p14 and p20 is pure garbage in comparison. Can anyone tell me if the PL45 has the same speedy MF as the PL25? If so I'm seriously considering a PL45. Also boy is...

Ipad + raw files? workflow suggestions?

I'm unsure what the iPad is capable of in this regard, but I do have knowledge of its awesome battery life (I've had an iPad 1 and 2 supplied to me at various jobs). I will ask this, have you considered a MacBook Air + Aperture or Lightroom? I have a 13" one with a Core i7 and 4gb ram with a...

    After much deliberation... PL25!

Finally ordered my very own PL25, super excited! I love my bokeh so I assume I will not be disappointed, f/2.8 equiv should be nice enough, my 40mm f/2.8 STM on a 5D Mk2 does the cream quite nicely :P I have noticed over time that the P20 is a little bit too unflattering for portrait shots...

14mm or 12mm? Your Experiences Please.

If you have the money I would go for the 12mm. I do not own it but I hear great things. I have used one in the store and the MF is delicious on it. I do however own the 14mm and its image quality is so so. I hardly ever put it on my camera because its optically a bit meh compared to my 20mm...

A night out with the trusty GF1

I have heard of it, never given it a go, maybe I should :) BTW just so we're clear its Aperture 3 doing the B&W not built into the camera, my wording before might have sounded that way.

    What's Leica rendering?

I don't have anyway of proving it as I have no Leica lenses, but my understanding was that the Leica look was merely full frame + fast prime. Leica shooters aren't afraid to shoot wide open because of their nice lenses. But tbh I shoot wide open pretty much exclusively with my m43 and canon gear...

A night out with the trusty GF1

No I don't shoot JPEG anymore, RAW only for me, found that I wasn't using any of the JPEGs so I save 2 or 3gb per 8gb card now. I'm just using the built in B&W conversion in Aperture 3.

A night out with the trusty GF1

As my GF1 gets ever older its slowly been relegated to the "party-camera" haha. Anyway took some shots last weekend with the P20. Set and forget to Manual f/1.7 1/30 ISO800 and the GF1 never fails me at night. Edited RAW later with Aperture 3 and upped the contrast in some for some arty fun...

    Meet the Panasonic GX1

This GX1 look friggin' awesome finally a real upgrade for my GF1!. It's a little disappointing that it appears to have a slimmer profile, I'm a big fan of the chunky GF1. The grip looks cool I reckon, it looks like an LC1 and a GF1 had a baby then it went on a GF2 diet. Style wise I don't...

GF1.... a very cool little machine

I love my GF1, I bought it after 2 years of shooting with a 400D and the GF1 beat the 400D even in ISO performance. Sure its aging a little now with all these whiz bang APS-C cameras hitting clean ISO 3200 without a sweat. But the GF1 can still shoot ISO 800 without much noise so thats enough...

    Leica 25mm

I'm considering getting one of these even though I have the 20mm already, I think the extra light gathering ability and bokeh control would be totally worth it. And as a user above me has posted I think it'll make my GF1 feel less like a P&S. I have rather large hands so the MF ring will also be...

    PL45 Macro Unsure

Yeah you've all got the right ideas. TBH the reason I got my GF1 in the first place was so I could stop taking the 400D out and looking like a dork with a giant camera while I was overseas. So I'm leaning towards just getting the PL45 for its size, sharpness, macro and portrait ability. It'll...

    PL45 Macro Unsure

Okay so its a 1:1 lens so its 2:1 thanks to the 4/3 sensor? Which means the subject will be larger on the sensor? Also I know theres all sorts of legacy lenses I could use, but I'm not sure any of you know the difficulty of getting any kind of old lens in australia. Ebay has almost nothing in...

    PL45 Macro Unsure

Hey guys I'm trying to decide if I should buy the PL45 Macro, I'm going to mount it on my GF1 to have some fun with macro shooting. Only problem is the price I'm finding it extremely difficult to justify the $980AUD for a m43 lens. My main pains have been that I can get a Canon EF 100mm f2.8L...

    Pancake Lenses

I've got the 20mm I just ordered the 14mm to go along with it. I didn't go for the 17mm because its slower and not that much different to 20mm FOV. I don't really get this whole 17mm is terrible thing, its a prime lens therefore should be sharp and its faster than any of the available zooms.

    Aperture RAW Conversion

Hi all, So over the years I've shot in RAW with all my cameras that could because I knew I'd end up wanting to do some stuff with RAW. 55gb and counting..... So anyway I have a mac and am thinking of grabbing Aperture 3. I'm running a trial now and it seems pretty decent. I've been...

What do you think of the G3's looks?

I like it, only things I don't like are the giant G without a 3 next to it, but this is probably a bold marketing ploy. Also lack of the singleshot/motor drive/ev+- switch... thats just lame. That said, I might get one of these if they offer the 14-42 + 45-200 packed in. Been thinking of...

    Panasonic LVF1 viewfinder replacement

Just a thought, 43rumours has it on pretty good word the GF2 will not be making an appearance at photokina. So I wonder if they might do an LVF-2 in its place, also considering they have 2 cameras that can now take it, LX5 being the other. Its been said a few times that perhaps the interface...

    Another EP1 vs GF1 question

Regarding IS I was always under the impression that it was more useful for more narrow angle lenses where slight movements will result in greater travel. With a 20mm is that really a problem. Also being a pancake lens the whole camera will be more stable as you don't have a big tube...

    Cosina Voigtlander Digital Rangefinder

I wonder if CV joining m43 might mean a digital rangefinder in the style of a Bessa R with an m43 mount. I would love a rangefinder digital camera with fully manual controls it would be amazing. I'd even like it if they left the screen off of it, make it exactly like an R4. A man can...

(UPDATED W/IMAGE SAMPLES!) HOT! NEW CV 25MM f0.95 NOKTON!

Read about this just this morning. I'm pretty excited. I think I might get one, MF doesn't seem to be much of a problem on the GF1. The MF assist function lets me get almost perfect focus when I use MF on my 20mm. I don't have a viewfinder. Would be nice to know if it does have electrical...

OK --you have to decide. MFT or DSLR

OK --you have to decide. MFT or DSLR

I have both a 400D and a GF1. I'm seriously considering selling my 400D, its weight has never been an issue really, I rock a 50mm prime on it at all times so its not even that bulky, but in comparison to an m43 its huge, which stops me from taking it almost anywhere. Also if I sold my 400D...

Advice needed: Should I sell my m4/3rds for Canon? (Temporarily)

Oh man this thing is cool. The manual focus is so very usable as well! I'm not even convinced I'll ever need a viewfinder really. Its got everything my SLR has but smaller. Also its far newer tech than my 400D as well, thats from 2006 this is barely a year old. I like the small number of...

Yeah I like that little control for single/continuous shooting. I think I've decided on a GF1 based on a few factors so far. 1. Controls 2. Screen res 3. Price 4. Style 5. Discreteness 6. Weight Also this is a bit of a shallow one, but I think I'll prefer to match Lumix lenses with...
