Tried the Panny 100-400 for a change to see how it could do concerts. Slightly worse than 40-150 pro or my clear favorite 75MM F1.8., but still usable.
Doggy in hand so I'm staying static as far as perspectives go from my normal modus operandi.
Early evening w/EM1. Beppe Gambetta.
The 12-100 is superb for all the reasons already mentioned. Unlikely to disappoint.
Get that and a 12 mm F2 or one of the other small/wide primes for when you need a larger aperture and seems like all you'll need pretty much.
Having witnessed my first and only eclipse in 2017, be sure to actually enjoy it and take it in. It's awesome and it will be over in a flash. Try to automate/practice ahead of time, so you can truly take it in. I have no other advice. Good luck! I'm looking forward to 2024 catching the next...
Pennsylvannia has it all
High property tax (really high)
City wage tax
Local county tax
Tranfer tax (on sale of home)
High gas tax
What a state! Even NJ tax HQ has cheaper gasoline, cheaper booze.
It's about time for a tea party. Should not be taxes on used items. Period. That said I only rarely get charged sales tax (PA) on ebay and the state knows where they can stick their use tax. I'll toss them $1 every so often. Olympus store is in PA, so they charge me sales tax too.
I've been pondering moving to Boise (never been even) for a few years and your photos (and Brent Watkins) are not making it any easier to accept my current place. Thanks for sharing. It's gorgeous there. I've only been around Bear Lake heading to Provo from Yellowstone (I love WY, UT, MT, OR...

Trailer. I'm envious of those who live out West with the unlimited diverse scenery. Personally, I'd rather see the Amazon on a digital screen. However, going to Peru or Bolivia would be a different story.
I would take the trade. You can always buy another 12-40 if you have regrets (or get the 12-100 instead of the 12-40 + 40-150). There are tons on the used market. Less so of the 8-18. You can recoup your money on the 8-18 if you think you no longer like it, but I think you will.
You won't be disappointed. The 12-100 is stunning. It loses nothing to the 12-40, 40-150 pro IMO. The primes only advantage is low light/larger aperture if/when you need it. IQ wise, I've never seen anything to complain about. Super contrast, and very punchy output.
It almost makes the...
He's been wonderful. Really helping me get through a rough start to the year. Thanks for asking. Total joy around other dogs. I need to get some good video to show his true personality. He hops around like a giant rabbit. I've been taking him everywhere with me. He's still shy at times...
Yeah...when I try to view on PC (not android) it won't let me even view my photos. I have to chose PRO or Delete 1000+ photos (I don't even know how many I have). They make it sound so scary. They don't give me to option to go in and delete the ones I want to keep my account below the minimum...
There's no perfect kit. 12-100 does have dual IS though and you can get shallow enough DOF for portraits. That all said, unless I was going somewhere by car or that was specifically photo related like Iceland, I'd probably take 12-100 and a smaller kit prime like the 17 F1.8 or some other...
There are a few used ones for $1100. You can buy a third party warranty with the savings and save the difference, if that's your worry. I noticed on the 8-18 this week they were extending warranties to 3 years (on new). Maybe they are also for the other lenses?
