Do not underestimate the E-PL1 kit lens. You have been warned.

Thanks for the comments everyone. One thing that I really want for my EPL1 is the VF-2. I am waiting for some more reviews about the 14-150mm so I can decide. I can only afford either the lens or the VF2 but not both for now. Happy shooting everyone.

Do not underestimate the E-PL1 kit lens. You have been warned.

Hi guys, when I first got the E-PL1, I used the panasonic 14-45mm extensively instead of the kit lens. Last month I was forced to sell my pan 14-45 mm to save up for the new olympus 14-150 mm. I have no choice but to go back to the E-PL1 lens kit. Well, I do have the panasonic 20mm too but...

First time at the beach with my E-PL1

Thank you guys for the nice comments. People over another forums were saying that I shouldn't take my camera to the beach because the salt water can get inside the camera and corrode the electronic parts and it also void the warranty. Well, if you look at the scene mode, they do have one for...

First time at the beach with my E-PL1

I totally forgot about the art filter at the beach until I got home. My wife uses the camera on the kids sometime and if I leave it in A mode, she just take the picture at whatever Aperture I was in last. Actually 3 days ago, my wife took an indoor portrait of the kids at F8, 1/40 and 1600 ISO...

First time at the beach with my E-PL1

Yes, I do favor panasonic lens. Olympus kit lens is not bad but the autofocus is hunting even in the good light. The 14-45 autofocus is almost instant with very minimal hunting. It autofocus is even faster than my panasonic 20mm.

First time at the beach with my E-PL1

BBW, this is how I use the camera iAuto = never P mode = 70% of the time A mode = 25% S mode = 5% M mode = never I think it's a waste if I use iAuto and not trying to learn how to use PASM mode on this camera because I thought I pay more money for those options :)

First time at the beach with my E-PL1

Thank you for all the comments. I really enjoy this "little" camera. These are taken with panasonic 14-45mm since I don't like the kit lens autofocus and kids. No post-processing, just a little cropping and that's it. These are just straight OOC jpegs. I am very happy with the way this...

E-PL1 has great build in bounce flash

I was suprised by how effective the build in flash was when bouncing off the ceiling. Of course it's not as strong as my FL-36, but it's so convinient when I just want a quick shot of my kids . What you need to do is to bump up the power on the build in flash by +0.7 and then pull the flash back...

    Olympus IB

Currently this is the only software that can recognize epl1 raw file. It is similar but suppose to be better than the Master. One thing I know for sure is using it with raw is paintfully slow. I am waiting for lightRoom to update. On the other hand epl1 jpeg is excellent. I don't know if I...

hello, it's not hard at all. When you are in A mode just press up on the four way control and then press up and down to change aperture, left and right to change EV. I'm sure the dials are better but for me the button are very easy as well

Best New Lens for E-PL1? (+ noob questions)

I am using the 20mm on my new epl1 as well and I highly recommend it. I will have tough time taking pictures of my two kids in door if I don't have this lens.

New E-PL1 owner, first time posting

After having so much hard time deciding between the GF1 and EP2, I decided to give the E-PL1 a try. I do have 2 small kids so I was worried about the PEN famous "slow" auto-focus. The E-PL1 auto-focus with the 14-42mm kit lens indeed a bit slow but not a deal breaker. I did some unscientific...
