    Slow Autofocus? m4/3'rds? Mirrorless?

Granted in this case he over-generalized, but as far as photography blogs, Ken is the way to go! His blog is the reason I stopped upgrading camera bodies and lusting after specs, and shoot purely with my e-pl1 with a fixed 20mm f1.7 lens (except for my custom telescope and microscope mounts)...

    Eye-Fi wireless SD cards?

How does it do for speed. On their website they only say "class 6", but class 6 can go up to 12mbps if it was released before class 10 was implemented. I want to know if it will be able to keep up with the video recording of an EPL1. Thanks

Pretty pictures of a pretty woman (and a clip that goes with them)

Here are a few shots I took of a friend on Canada day. and here is the video clip that goes with them. I have a low resolution (3.5mb) and a high resolution version (it is 25mb so might take a while to download)

What can Mu-43 not do? Some nice macro shots

I took these with my Panasonic 20mm reversed on bellows. This is a testament to the versatility of these tiny cameras and how they CAN compete with slr's and thousand dollar lenses. Ballpoint pen with a pepsi can relfection Ink on paper sugar sucralose And a 1.3MB video...

Will the Penpal work on other cameras

my hope is that the bluetooth stack also allows for remote functions since the EPL-1 was crippled for remotes. It would be nice to use my laptop or smartphone to do anything from a remote snapshot to timelapse and astrophotography. And although I would not use this to transfer files all that...

YouR thoughts on an SSD drive for my Macbook Pro

I have been looking into the hybrid dives for that very reason... 500gb normal = about 80-90$ 500gb hybrid = 130$ (on sale at 115 on newegg + an extrao 10$ off with the code BTEZZYZ26), at about double speed and less than 1\4 power consumption (about the same on standby, only a bit less) 500gb...

advice on picking a cheap lens for a macro project (note: 50x+ magnification reached)

Here are my latest test pictures! I managed to get over 50x magnification with the 3.6mm lens reversed. This is a little fuzzy, but it is being hand held, on fully extended bellows. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/julienlemay/5128464759/" title="test with 3.6mm reversed lens with bellows...

advice on picking a cheap lens for a macro project (note: 50x+ magnification reached)

Hehe, no certainly was not looking at those. The 20x+ did start at around 50$ thought (but there were 10x's for about the price you listed). I will be receiving my 8$ 2.1mm compares! Do you think you could take a picture of the mm's on a ruler? (I know its kind of silly, but this has become a...

advice on picking a cheap lens for a macro project (note: 50x+ magnification reached)

haha wow! cool! that is one funky looking setup! What kind of depth of field do you guys get with those? And what do you do for lighting? Up until now the prices I found for a single objective is still more than I have spent for my entire project :p

advice on picking a cheap lens for a macro project (note: 50x+ magnification reached)

well for some reason reusing the exact same material gives me less magnification than before.... but the real reason I am typing is to say that my LED flash v1 works! 1\13s at max magnification, now on to a second less intrusive version that holds the LEDs at better angle! :) <a...

E-PL1 and E-P2 video bitrate and buffer speed

checkingout benchmarks takes care of that. Many class 4 are high than spec because there was already a need for faster cards before the class 6 standard was made official. Any class 4 that is at bare minimum specs would be just under what is needed (by 1-2megabits) so anything even marginally...

    [EXPIRED] FS: AAXA P2 picoprojector

Selling an AAXA P2, thought people into photography\videography might be interested since it can be plugged directly to most cameras (any that have RCA output) and it can read from USB (so from and sd card reader) and microsd. It is in like-new condition, almost never used. Still have the box...

advice on picking a cheap lens for a macro project (note: 50x+ magnification reached)

just waiting for a male to male thread for those lenses. the 14mm could be good, but the 16mm f1.2 could be better light-wise... I guess ill see when I test it. But either way, neither of those lenses can get anywhere near the same FOV as the 2.1mm I am waiting for. Also, 8$ definitely falls...

    EPL-1 vs EP-2 question

I agree on changing the dial setting, but if changing is a must, not that you are also loosing 1 iso stop and remote control options, on top of shutter speed cripple. That being said, I went for the EPL1 for its flash and going form a D70s I thought I was going to cry over the loss of my...

A home made remote shutter release DIY solution for the E-PL1

i mostly avoid the flash and will play with most other settings before falling back on it. But a fun thing with the EPL1's flash is you can push back on the mechanism to point the flash upwards so it bounces on the ceiling instead of having a washed out bright spot.

A home made remote shutter release DIY solution for the E-PL1

one way or another, I like building stuff, but when I chose the EPL1 over the EP2, I thought I was saying good bye to remote shutter for good. advice on picking a cheap lens for a macro project (note: 50x+ magnification reached)

thanks for the idea with the fiber optic cable. The cctv lens is fairly small meaning I have room to put a diffuser around it so putting some LEDs could be another solution; I am just scared of having over-illuminated areas by using LEDs or fiber optic cables. Do you think that having the LEDs...

advice on picking a cheap lens for a macro project (note: 50x+ magnification reached)

I was going for 1:5 or more, but thats me; this thread is for anyone who wants to do macro on a tight(ish) budget. 1:2 with that level of IQ leaves room for cropping and good prints! That looks like less than 1:2 since a quarter is about 24mm wide, how close can you get with it? I thought...

Yup 52mm reverse and I also have 52-49mm step... just a tip for anyone looking to get one of these revers mounts, the thread to thread adapters run 3-5$ each so for anyone looking to get a reverse mount on ebay, don't go for the 52mm one (even if it is the cheapest); pay double, but get the...
