    Camping trip dilemma... need advice

If you are not backpacking with your gear then bring it all along. I just got back from camping in the Ouachita Mountains and I took my :43: stuff as well as my D700, host of lenses and my mamiya universal medium format gear. I had a blast and spent time with all of my gear over six days. If...

    Panasonic Wish List.....

The nikon 50mm 1.8 for about $100 might fit your bill. No OIS but is capable of some close focus, good bokeh, low-light capable, very sharp on :43: and cheap to boot. It focuses down to 0.45 meters or 1.5 feet. It's 2.6" (65mm) around by 1.7" (43mm) long. and only weighs 5 oz. or...

The other day at work I had a conversation with a guy who is into photography as well. He complimented me on it and then asked how I went about achieving the photograph in post. I...

New Olympus PEN E-P3 in June?

I'd love to see an integrated EVF or even better an OVF/EVF hybrid taking the X100 implementation a step further where the OVF would include a focusing section where the EVF would overlay and converge with the OVF image. That would make a logical step forward for incorporating the rangefinder...

    Fun at the State Capital

Oh yea on the third image, I think I got pretty lucky with since texas rangers won't allow their pictures to be taken. I really like the way it turned out though. It is like the ghosts of the old cowboys walking through the heart of Texas.

    Fun at the State Capital

Thanks. It was just the built in filter on the third while the second pic was done entirely in post. Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality of the filters in the camera and so I rely on them a lot since it saves a lot of time on the back end. As for the 17mm, I love that little lens...

    EP2 Video

For something like a parade you will want to go to manual focus. Anytime you are in a situation with moving subjects up-close the AF will be more of a hinderance then a help. There is a reason why cinema cameras are all MF and hollywood pays a guy to pull focus.

    RAW File conversion question

Everytime I export a raw file as a .jpg from aperture 3 it shrinks considerably in image size. Basically my 12mp image becomes .7mp. Why is this? Is there a way to export to .jpg or another file type that will preserve the image size? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

    Why do you take photographs?

For me I think HCB said it best when he said "To take photographs means to recognize -- simultaneously and within a fraction of a second -- both the fact itself and the rigorous organization of visually perceived forms that give it meaning. Any RB67 owners out there ?

I suggest once you track down where the light leak is coming from applying a little gaffers tape to the area. I've done this on my RB and it solved it. Make sure to use real gaffers tape though as it works the best.

    T. Hogan: Sony may be ditching FF

I wouldn't agree there. Only in the DSLR market is Sony not a professional product company. A majority of television studios deploy sony cameras and backline studio gear. With the trend of still and video imaging merging this is surprising to me to hear that Sony would bow out of the pro...
