    Foggy spot on lens

I wanted to provide a follow up to my original post. I sent my lens to Olympus under warranty last week and was shocked to come home from work yesterday and find that UPS had delivered a package from Olympus. Olympus had cleaned the lens to the point where it looks brand new. Very happy!

    Foggy spot on lens

Hi - Thank you all for your replies. I registered the lens online and am planning to take to a local camera shop to identify what this may be. I hope its not mold. I've only had the lens for a couple of months in the dry air of winter. So humidity has not been an issue for the lens.

    Foggy spot on lens

Hi, I have an Olympus 12-40 2.8 lens that has a small foggy spot on the inside of the glass. It does not affect the image at all. But I am looking to sell the lens and would like to get this fixed before I do. The lens is about 2-3 months old and I never filled out the warrantee card. Is this...

Best lens for Weddings? thinking 12-40 2.8 pro or 75mm 1.8

I used to shoot weddings professionally with a Canon 5DM2 and the 24-70 2.8 was on the camera 90% of the time. I carried a 70-200 with me for reach, and 85 1.2 for low light. Also had a backup body with me. For micro 4/3, I would recommend the 12-40 2.8 for the bulk of the work and a 75 1.8 on a...

    Why did you choose 4/3

I had been shooting Canon DSLRs for several years. In 2010, I started a picture a day project and found the Canon too cumbersome to carry around everyday. I discovered M43 online and bought a GF1 with the 20 1.7 lens. I used both systems for a couple of years, until I upgraded to the OM-D EM5...

    Is it worth upgrading?

Thanks everybody for your input. I think that you just talked me about spending some money! My thought for an upgrade is based solely on image quality. There isn't anything that my EM5 isn't doing well enough for my use. I guess the only reason for me to upgrade to the EM1 or EM5 Mark II is if...

    Is it worth upgrading?

Hi, I haven't been to the forums in quite a long time. But now I'm back and interested in upgrading my Olympus EM5. When I purchased this camera in early 2012, it was an upgrade from a GF1 and a huge improvement. The EMD was (and still is) awesome and I was happy enough with it at the time to...

    E-M5 Does Professional Headshots

Thanks, Tom. For the lighting, I used 2 monolights; one bounced into an umbrella on camera left at f/9 and one as a hairlight at f/11. I used a reflector on camera right. For this kind of shoot, I try to keep things as simple as possible because the people want to get in and out of the chair as...

    E-M5 Does Professional Headshots

I had an opportunity yesterday to photograph corporate headshots and decided to put the E-M5 to the test in a professional setting. Coincidentally, on the way to the session, I met with a local photographer to sell my Canon 5Dmk II. Since I no longer do a lot of professional photography, I...

    Olympus OM-D E-M5 Image Thread

Hi Asaulo1, Beautiful images. I really like these. A couple of quick questions - What was the light source in image one? It looks like fairly hard light from a low angle on camera left, but the exif data shows no flash. Also, how did the XP1 compare to the OMD in terms of IQ and ease of...

    OM-D vs. Canon 5d ... hmmmm?

You're absolutely correct. Unfortunately, I didn't think quick enough to change the aperture from f/4 before I took this shot. The FF was at 2.8. I probably should have had the m43 at 1.7 to get a similar OOF image. Oh well.

    OM-D vs. Canon 5d ... hmmmm?

It certainly wasn't a scientific comparison, but I was able to put my new E-M5 up against my 5DmkII at a photo shoot this past Sunday. Friends of mine about about to have a baby and asked for a photo session. They just wanted to go to the park and shoot some simple, engagement style shots. I...

    First Impressions with EM-5

Last night, while hunting through the menus, I found an option to turn off the automatic sensor that switches between the viewfinder and screen. This way the screen stays on when I hold the camera up against my body. Funny that the Olympus tech that I spoke to didn't suggest this. There is a...
