I have friends(some of them shoot professionaly) that shoot with Nikon, Canon and Hasselblad and have tested most of their equipment...i personally have own Nikon,Canon and Sony APS-C...Canon and Sony FF before switching to m43. I have not own a D500 but i have tested it and can probably lend...
Sure the files from the D500 are a littler better and more maliability but i think its a little exaggerated to say they are far superior...have not yet seen any APS-C camera that produces fikes that are far superior those of the latest m43 offerings
Fully aware of that..and no it dose not have the same feel to it, I have own several pro cameras and pro lenses made of "plastic", its not the same feeling as holding a camera or lens made of metal.
I personally prefer cameras and lenses made of metal, i dont say it better i just like the feel...
Thats true, it might be a problem for some. For me personally i dont have any a problem with that, even if im out shooting all day during winter.
Poly carbonate just dont have the same feel even in the chassi is sturdy, same as with the lenses...those f1.8 lenses that are made of metal just...
Tony have a point that the Nikon 600mm f4 is the better one of them and will provide better quality (and more details when used with a higher res camera like the D850) but not to the extent shown in his video. Olympus 300mm f4 is on par with other 300mm pro lenses from the other brands.
Dont know how he end up with that poor result...i have tried it briefly and it was really sharp, no worse than any other 300mm pro lenses but it will never render the image same as a 600mm lens.
I give way more trust in for example Imager-Resource's tests than Tony's.
Olympus 300mm f/4.0 IS...
Believe it or not but weight and size is actually important for many pros as well, especially the weight.
Pro or amature, for some the size and weight will be a big negative and for some it wont.
Dont think it had been any confusion if they had made the camera a little smaller....diffrent...
Sigma is clearly targeting the video market with this camera.
Personally i would liked to see tiltable or flip out screen, built in evf or hotshoe on the camera for external evf, sensor stabilisation and PDAF.
Guess we will see many small lenses like the upcoming 45mm f2.8 in the future.
When it comes to IQ i would say it comes down to the lenses...noise, dr etctera are so colse to the competitors so you will not see any difference i practice. Personally i prefer Canon RF 24-105 over Panasonics.
I have also tested it out but with the 24-105...it performed good and built like a tank but for me its way to big and heavy lugging around a whole day and not something i would bring with me on a vacation/hike
It seams that you know what you really want so i dont see why you dont jump ship and buy a Nikon Z...i honestly dont think Olympus ever will meet your expectations o requirements.
For reference Nikon is charging almost 6k for their 20mp D5...thats 3k more than E-M1X.
Dont really see the problem wirh using same sensor if there are significant improvement in AF, EVF etcetera compared to existing model...for users of existing model or other model with 16mp sensor it will be a step up in resolution and overall image quality.
Yes they have higher resolution but...
Personally i think the 12-100 produces pleasing bokeh and renders the background quite well for being a super-zoom.
The 14-140 f3.5-5.6 dont hold f3.5 for long, it reaches f4 around 20-25mm.
I would say the 12-100 f4 have noticable better IQ
Personally i think 12mm is more usefull, 2mm on...
Well isnt that the whole point of the comparison as most picures nowadays end up in small formats?
He described what he have done to the pictures.
Whish he had taken more examples, in diffrent light situations, f-stops and focal lengths.
In good light most cameras will perform well.
Lee Moris from FStoppers is doing a test and asking the FStoppers' community to guess which photo come from which camera.
The video isn't up yet but it will be interesting to see the result...
Can You Guess Which Camera Took Which Picture?
