Sold My E-M1 and 12-40 to a friend today!

All of you make valid points, but for me right now the A7 series of cameras is what works for me. I use a combination of old glass and new. I have kept all of my premium m4/3 glass just in case I change my mind or want something different. My wife still has a GX7. Honestly the shallow depth of...

Sold My E-M1 and 12-40 to a friend today!

T N Args, you are absolutely correct that the lens selection does not match the m4/3 yet but the m4/3 system did not match the dlsr systems when I go into it either. There are enough good lenses in the system to keep me happy for now. Especially the 55mm 1.8! And the system meets a couple of...

Sold My E-M1 and 12-40 to a friend today!

dombi, For me ultimately the reason I switched was that I found the image quality to superior on the A7. The image stabilization on the new model was the nail in the coffin for the EM1 and I had a friend looking for another camera at he right time. I am getting less noise at higher ISO which...

Sold My E-M1 and 12-40 to a friend today!

I could not agree more. I just had to much conflict in myself having two systems for essentially the same purpose. There is no doubt that the autofocus speed will be missed. I'll adapt however. I'll miss all the high quality native glass but that will come eventually.

Sold My E-M1 and 12-40 to a friend today!

The Fuji is supposed to be one very nice camera. Still it would not have drawn me away from the Olympus. It was the full frame that made me switch and now the image stabilization that sealed the deal. If Sony had not put a full frame sensor in package the size of and EM1 I'd still be all in with...

Sold My E-M1 and 12-40 to a friend today!

As the title states I have sold my camera and lens today to a good friend. I have very mixed emotions about it. I have been and am still very much an Olympus fan. The undeniable truth though is that ever since I bought a Sony A7 my EM1 has hardly been used. Now the the A7MII with it's 5 axis...

Which system to bring on motorcycle trip?

Hi every one. I am having a bit of a dilemma right now. I leave for a 2 week motorcycle trip through the Canadian Rockies and Prairies in four days and am unsure if I should bring my Olympus E-M1 with 12-40 and 35-100 f2.8 or my A7 with Zuiko 20 f2, Zeiss 55 f1.8 and Zuiko 85 f2. Both have pros...

    Olympus 75mm long term thoughts?

As others have said. I have not noticed noise at all. To be fair though the I don't notice the PL 25 either. It took me a bit to get used to the focal length but once I did I was in love

    Olympus 75mm long term thoughts?

I love the lens. With out a doubt one of my favourites. I almost alway have it in my bag or at least with me if I'm on the road. Some of my favourite photos have been taken with this lens.

Easter Bunny brought me a new toy

My Olympus gear has been neglected as of late. My wife and I were at the mall during Easter doing a bit of shopping and much to my surprise she came to look at a camera with me. I ended up with a Sony A7 and Zeiss 55 f1.8. A very nice combo! I have been using it with my vintage OM glass as well...

    Showcase Panasonic 35-100mm f/2.8

Picture of my daughter receiving an award for a poem she did at a festival. While this is not the most spectacular photo it does show what the camera and lens can do in tough light. ISO 2000, f2.8, 1/160 handheld at 100mm. The purple is actually the lights.

With 12-40mm, Do I need still need primes?

I have all the fast primes including the PL25 f/1.4 and the 12-40. I would not get rid of the 25 for anything. Love that lens. The extra speed and DOF is noticeable. Love the pictures I get from that lens. The 45 well, ... I'd sell that one but wife likes it. I just don't use that focal length...

Best settings and tricks for EM-1

Welcome to the club. You picked a great camera as your first m4/3! As far as settings on the Camera are concerned I have most of them as they were set straight out of the box. I did turn off the Warm setting and I changed up a few of the function buttons for my preference. The biggest thing...

    Omd em5 upgrade to dx dslr ;;;

Personally I would not get rid of the E-M5 in favour of a DX SLR. The image quality is so close and the size advantages of the E-M5 are obvious. I would add a camera such as the Sony A7 or A7R to my bag however. But then they Sony only has a few native lenses to go along with it so until they...

GX7 vs E-M1 - the comparison everyone wants except me :)

I have the EM1 because I like available light photography and my wife just got the GX7 because she does more video than me. Both are great cameras. The GX7 is way sexier but I prefer the EM1 in my hands. I like both. Prefer the feel of the Olympus but that is me.
