Feedback wanted re: Lazy loading images

I had no idea the site was so configurable. That’s some serious Yeoman’s work there Amin, that you give us all those options and are still working on more.

Covid-19 Quarantine. How are you spending your days?

Work, but get outdoors. We live in a sparse area of the suburbs so there is some weaving around people, because everyone is outside, but it’s manageable to keep several meters from others. I don’t know how I’d do this in the city. I’m also doing a lot more road biking because the traffic is so...

    Need a largish pop-up background

My office is too small for something that big. Though I might move to the basement. I found one of those 5.5 X 6.5 (give or take) pop-up white/black reversible backgrounds with stand on Amazon. It arrives Friday. I'll try that and see if it works. The office bedroom is like 10X12, so I need...

Good question. Not sure. It's for work, and given the new age of telepresence, I'm not sure of the level needed.

    Need a largish pop-up background

I need a largish pop-up background that is easy to pop up/down quickly I not done much/any studio stuff. Anyone have a recommendation? I suppose I could also buy a frame and attach a sheet. Recommendations appreciated. Would love it to collapse down very small, too, for storage/getting it out...

Question for corporate workers - about COVID (US)

this is pretty pessimistic. Up until the 1960s (in the States) we had regular epidemics of all types yet still functioned. It was only 65 years ago that a cure for polio was found. Many of those diseases ravaged across all age groups. Now we have a disease that primarily impacts the old - in...

Question for corporate workers - about COVID (US)

We just got the call that we are no longer "invited" to WFH, but are required. Also, our state has announced schools closed to April 3, no meetings larger than 25 people, and no in-dining restaurants or bars.

Question for corporate workers - about COVID (US)

from what I understand it IS different in that most Viruses historically have devastated the very young and old. This one only the old. Some articles I read are theorizing that it triggers an over response in older immune systems, though it’s just a theory.

Gonna try carrying around a camera again (GM5) but it probably won’t last

Amin, like you, my use of cameras has dropped off, mostly for person and social shots. I found friends were more interested in other people’s shots because they could be shared immediately. By the time I processed and got mine out, people were not longer interested, no matter how much ‘better’...

My comment got "Editor's Pick" on DPR 'Panasonic Lumix DC-G95/G90 Review'

I don't agree. Even if FF was the same price (and a Canon RP is similar to a high end m43), there are still differences based on format - strengths and weaknesses. It's first a format decision. They might as well say "Con - it has a 43 sensor" and just be honest on the knock.

My comment got "Editor's Pick" on DPR 'Panasonic Lumix DC-G95/G90 Review'

Just wondering - does every APSC camera have a con that says “lags behind full frame in high ISO”? Is every m43 pro “greater reach for same mm lens over APSC competitors” or some such it’s a format comparison. Why do they attach it to the camera? I’m not gonna Check, but I wouldn’t be...

    Camera sale from h3ll

Well, I just sold a kit that I was hoping to sell for $700 but then lowered, and lowered again. Off to mpb for $585. If I remove PayPal and shipping from the $700, then I would have netted $650. I got $585 instead. I'm down $65 in cash, but up at least $100 in time and avoiding headaches!

DPReview forums, m43 forum specifically. For years, it was full of trolls bashing m43. Then it turned to an endless argument about equivalence and photons. It's improved a bit now, but the crowd here is still generally more congenial.

I've been on this site for a decade. Amin has kept this up as a labor of love. He asked our opinion, and the bulk of voices asked to...

Yeah, but half the value of this way-too-expensive phone is the camera to purposely replace a kit lens or RX100. The point being -- the camera you have with you. And what better camera than the one built into an always-with-me-phone. I wouldn't own this specific model if it wasn't for the...

Totally got the joke, and loved the name from the first moment. Many sales training curricula talk about how people are story-tellers, and telling stories is key to motivating people. I always think of that episode, which I last saw probably in the early 1990s!

formula for calculating the reach of various camera setups?

I don't know the Canon 400 lens or it's quality, but that's a 320mm f 4.5 equivalent in m43. An almost-as-long and slightly-faster Oly 300mm f4 goes about $1500 used-$1800 AFAICT (though that Canon used is about $900). They are about the same weight (1.25KG for the Canon 1.27KG for the Oly) and...

formula for calculating the reach of various camera setups?

IIRC (and I haven’t used a canon in a long time) while Canon colors are nice, their jogs were never the sharpest and they gave you limited control. Oh! Also there’s the AA filter to consider on a per pixel sharpness basis. lastly, it all starts with your target output size and media.
  46. WT21

formula for calculating the reach of various camera setups?

Yeah, I think that's the trick. Sensor size and lens focal length is one thing. Sensor resolution and the resolving power of any given lens makes a mathematical equation pretty hard to create. Even if there's a normative measure of lens resolving power, it would only be applicable in testing...

Just wondering - for those who work for corporations, what are you seeing as planned responses to COVID? We just suspended all travel, and we work in shared office space, so were told to work from home (I work in high tech). We are hearing of similar responses at our customers. (Remember -...

How can you not count your cell phone. What’s the difference between an advanced cell phone and having an e.g. rx100 as your intentional second camera?
