I Need to Learn to Stay Off of KEH - if you like manual focus lenses don't read this thread, it will cause huge GAS

In the old days (whippersnapper) of MF, far fewer people could really do sports or BIF well. Especially if we are talk about those perfectly sharp action plays or tail feathers. The tools have gotten better and so have our standards. You can always pull up perfect shots from the MF days but...

Friends what do you think of this new model.....?

I agree. There is discussion of this. Most noise is inherent in the incoming light and many newer sensors are almost independent of ISO if you include processing the RAW file in the mix. Just to note, the whole point of the "triangle" is to present a simple model of how things work. If you...

    Olympus 12-45/4 Pro lens details

It was an Oly OMD body, but I didn’t notice which. They didn’t talk much that I remember about AF speed.

    Olympus 12-45/4 Pro lens details

In the DPR video, the 12-45 was compared with the Panny 12-35 2.8. Their conclusion was that the Oly was a bit sharper. The other obvious differences were that the Oly focused closer and had more reach but the Panny was faster. Almost exactly the same size, so we get a real choice here.

Equivalence (hypothesis): Could future FF mirrorless F/8 and F/5.6 lenses (ever so slightly press upon) the m43 pro system?

Maybe there is a bit of truth here. Look at the speed of the tele end of this FF lens: https://m.dpreview.com/news/1887130183/canon-rf-24-105mm-f4-7-1-is-stm

Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III Released

The problem for Olympus is that they need to tempt you to buy their new camera. For most of Oly's customer base, this kind of purchase is a luxury with a small dose of practical. There is a lot of emotion involved because they are trying to sell you something you don't really need. These...

Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III Released

As the DPR preview points out, this is a very capable camera. The problem is that Olympus should have fixed the little things, like a better EVF and dual UHS-ii slots, etc. Not new tech, just all the bells and whistles of an $1800 body. It's not a deal breaker, but Olympus just has to try a...

Did Olympus botch the roll-out of the E-M5 Mk III?

It's 999 now. That would have made a much better impression on launch.

Equivalence (hypothesis): Could future FF mirrorless F/8 and F/5.6 lenses (ever so slightly press upon) the m43 pro system?

Yeah, we'll never know. The FF guys will never release stuff that slow unless it's an attempt at a lightweight telephoto.

What potential new feature would make you buy the E-M1iii?

I bet lots of folks wouldn’t buy the em1x anyway because it’s too big for their liking.
  15. drd1135

What potential new feature would make you buy the E-M1iii?

I voted for improved sensor, bu I would like a modest increase in MP but mostly better hi I so and dr. Even then it would be a close call. Better evf and a joystick would make it closer.

Yeah, but if you can scrape the sensor, you can rewrite the FW. 🏋️‍♂️

Monochrome for m43 would be awesome

A monochrome mu43 sensor could in principle have more MP without as much of a noise penalty. Imagine a Pen F with a 36 MP monochrome sensor. I might consider purchasing such a beastie.

    New Olympus Camera Mid February

I will say this. Olympus hasn't exactly captured the headlines lately. It would really help their status if the EM1 iii is a very impressive camera. Now is not the time to skimp on the details.

    Another Silly Idea

Not with a digital sensor. The camera could have the configuration of a TLR with a top horizontal LCD and only one lens. They'd have top be sure the LCD was bright and worked well in sunlight. Of course, they could retain the optical VF which some folks really like, but, as you said, you'd...

    LegoWars ;)

The “atmospherics “ give 1 and 3 a touch of reality that 2 lacks. I think some of the lack of comments is because many of us have not done set pieces like this and are reluctant to idly criticize good work that clearly took imagination and effort.

Nikon Z50 mirrorless APS-C camera and two lenses (16-55mm and 50-250mm) to be announced soon

I've read a few reviews, one by Thom Hogan, and evidently the short zoom is really good. That makes the $1000 kit very attractive. It effectively becomes a nice fixed lens camera.
