"Why worry about it? Anything you try will either not work properly and possibly make its use a pain in the ass or run the same/greater risk of marking up the body." Only because the $3 spend might protect a $1000 body. Worth the $3 to me to try.

This is the grip I like. I want a pad between the grip and the body AND the vertical ARCA plate and the body. Maybe in the bottom tray as well.

    Continuous Light vs Flash

I shoot as portably as possible, meaning I'll go into a restaurant to take 3-5 photos for a magazine review with just my bag and a tripod. I use both light types at the same time very often. I'll bounce my Speedlights around the room, off a wall or ceiling, etc., then use a Rotolight to dump a...

    To the mechanically-inclined out there...

I just found a nice grip for the PEN F. Big grip, ARCA-style, etc., but it does barely touch the camera. I'd hate to take it off in a few months and have had it mar the body. SO... where can I get thin black rubber stick-on feet, pads, or small sheets to put a compressible layer between the body...

    Back in the game...

For the past couple of years I've strayed from m4/3, mostly because I'm publishing more photos in a magazine I work for. I tried the Sony route, but fell back to my comfortable shoes, Nikon FX. The A6000 was stellar, the A6500 added IBIS, and the A7RII gave me great files for the magazine. But...

Curious... how well do you like your PEN F?

An update. I found myself wrestling with buttons and menus every time I shot with my PEN F. Not because they are bad, but because I'm used to my Sony cameras. The menus and controls are vastly different. I posted it for sale, and a gentleman from across the state (Florida) met me in the middle...

In defense of the much-maligned PEN-F Art Filter knob.

My youngest son's first football game of the season today. Took some cameras and lenses to pass the time shooting during the game. A7ii, A6000, and PEN F. Didn't need or want the dial's function today and never once felt it was in the way. AF was good, but I got more in-focus keepers with the...

In defense of the much-maligned PEN-F Art Filter knob.

As the Senior Editor for a regional lifestyle publication, I'm lucky enough to actually work with my cameras almost every day. The downside is I'm conscious of NEEDING them for work, and not taking my "work" cameras out as often as I should. So, I bought the new PEN-F as a carry around kit, and...

Sony body comparable to Olympus EM5 II

I use them regularly (A7ii/A6300/A6000), never an issue. I use both of their big flashes, and multiple lenses interchangeably. Been well over a year without a hitch. Will likely cause my Nikon Df to go away, as the D7100 has already been rendered redundant by the A6300/A6000. But I'm a fan of...

    Is Olympus following us?

Nah, Spiratone had those, didn't stick well to rough surfaces. Then maybe a Leica-like ISO wheel? There's such a great blank canvas there for something revisited.
  24. SRHEdD

    Is Olympus following us?

I'm out in the middle of my son's football practice, taking a few snaps with my new PEN F, and I'm finding I like the monitor screen turned inside. So it strikes me... Oly! Go full retro and put a film box tab holder on the back! We all used those for all sorts of things! I remember turning the...

Sony body comparable to Olympus EM5 II

"I own 3 different formats and I use them in very different circumstances." Exactly. I stopped trading systems a while ago now. Now I keep them and add another based on its performance in a given situation.

Want to Buy: ISO grip for EP5 - is there such a thing? | Location: USA | Ships: USA

Your best bet, IMHO, is a Gariz case. Adds a little depth to the body making it easier to hold. Just got one for my Pen F, it has a little grip bump/ridge too.

Sony body comparable to Olympus EM5 II

Maybe a Pen F would be worth a rent. Great IBIS, higher-res sensor. Blistering AF, especially suited to static images. I've only had mine for a couple of days, but it is as fast as either of my Sony A6xxx bodies on AF-S.

Curious... how well do you like your PEN F?

Then there was a sign from above... someone was selling a used Gariz case for the PEN F on ebay. I had ebay Bucks accrued to cover most of it. I was a sign, an omen of good things to come... Now... BLACK or SILVER? Hmmmmm... I bought my Df in silver and kinda wish it was black. I've read...

Curious... how well do you like your PEN F?

I had both the E-M5 and E-M1, but just couldn't warm up to the mini-DSLR style. It was nice to see Oly further the rangefinder-style body, but that slowed after the E-P5. The NEX-6 was a joy to hold, and I've had each next iteration. I loved seeing the PEN F leapfrog back into the discussion...

That maybe the most short-sighted post I've ever read on any board, ever. If it is meant to be flip, it fails. If serious, very sad indeed.

Curious... how well do you like your PEN F?

I have a Df!! Was pondering last night to do just that, get the Df dirty and use it everyday instead of getting something else. I used it to shoot pics at a press event a couple of weeks ago, a dozen people asked me what it was and how OLD it was (mine is silver, and in a brown Gariz case)...

Curious... how well do you like your PEN F?

From PC Mag: "Panasonic includes its own Raw processing software with the LX100, but Leica opts to include a license for the full version of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5. That's worth $149.99 if you don't already own Lightroom or subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud. That bridges the price gap...

Curious... how well do you like your PEN F?

Hmmmm... just read about a Leica D-Lux 109. Same price, still m4/3, and NOT a new system. Just a self-contained hunk of aluminum with my kind of lens range.

Curious... how well do you like your PEN F?

This would be my daily carry everywhere, shoot everything, snapshot camera. I shoot with Sonys for work, A7ii mostly. Sometimes my Nikon DF if I know it is going to be low/available light.

Curious... how well do you like your PEN F?

I think that's my hesitation, I won't see a difference. I've just never felt comfortable slinging the E-P5 over my shoulder with that giant EVF perched on the top. Good idea on the refurb. I'm a big fan of Oly's refurbs.
