Lemurs roaming free: Duke Lemur Center

The Duke Lemur Center has the occasional event where it allows groups of lemurs to roam free in the nearby woods to forage, and a small number of photographers are allowed to mingle with them. This time around, sifakas were the most gregarious, but a few ruff and ringtail lemurs made...

Low light without flash and pocketable setup: does this camera exist?

I've been using my E-M5 and Panasonic 20mm combination in many settings, most recently in low light conditions such as museums and nighttime time lapses where I can drop down to 1/3 second shutter speed and still get damn sharp pictures. Unfortunately this isn't the most pocketable of...

    OM-D, older non-legacy lenses and high-FPS burst

I fear it may be so; I'll just switch to my MSC lenses if I have to shoot bursts in bright light. Btw Olympus technical support seems to be pretty uneven, though that's probably true of most tech support departments; I had one guy completely on the ball when discussing my shutter problem a while...

    OM-D, older non-legacy lenses and high-FPS burst

I've noticed that if I shoot in the high-FPS burst mode with certain older lenses like the Panasonic 20mm and the 14-54 II 4/3 lens, stopping down drastically reduces the burst rate. I've noticed that, unlike with the 12-50 kit lens and the 40-150 zoom, each frame is preceded by the aperture...

    O75-300 vs P100-300

I used a rented 100-300 at an airshow last month and it had occasional trouble focusing on moving airplanes, which was a problem when certain planes only had a few flybys at the best angles of attack.. My other telephoto at the time was the kit 40-150, and it was much more dependable in nailing...

    Show your aircraft photos!

From the Great New England Air Show last weekend. Hot and hazy day, so many long-distance shots came up blurry, and the Panasonic 100-300mm has trouble focusing on flying planes, even on the E-M5. That's my photog excuses over with :P.

One-off silver/black Olympus E-P2 body in box, extra battery $170 shipped ConUS I've decided to part ways with my old E-P2; the E-M5 dominates my shooting and the need for a backup body isn't acute for me. Show us what your adapted lens looks like on your camera

I was at the Farnborough airshow last weekend and a gentleman with an E-3 kindly let me try his telephoto prime. The (lack of) AF speed and crazy weight made it pretty much unusable without assistance. E-M5 and Zuiko 300mm f/2.8

What Lens mount uses the smallest adapter?

True, but to some people it's worth it; I'm one of them. I haven't had good luck with the Soviet lenses I've bought, but constantly use my 40mm Pen F lens.

What Lens mount uses the smallest adapter?

The old Olympus Pen F mount is very close to the m39 mount in thickness.

Olympus Zuiko 14-54 II on OM-D: Impressions thread

After spending some time with the lens, especially getting used to the manual focus, I'm starting to warm to it. AF speed is its only weakness, and it certainly isn't everything. All but the first of these photos were manually focused.

See #3. Not sure how much this really means if there aren't many votes, but it seems like there are plenty of people interested in this combo. Olympus Zuiko 14-54 II on OM-D: Impressions thread

I recently snagged a silver OM-D kit with the MMF-3, and also picked up a 4/3 14-54 II CDAF-enabled zoom lens to see if it can replace the rather underwhelming 12-50 kit lens. My first impressions are as follows: -AF speed isn't noticeably faster than on my old E-P2. -It is bulky enough to...

    How to Pimp yo Pen

Thanks! It's whatever Olympus used on the E-P1 and the silver E-P2, so metal with a clear coat layer on it. The nice thing about the E-P1 and E-P2 being almost the same camera is that nearly everything's interchangeable; in the car world this would be called a bolt-on mod.

    How to Pimp yo Pen

If there's such a thing as "subtle pimping", I think I've managed it. Black E-P2 top plates on a silver E-P1 Silver E-P1 side plates on a black E-P2, and hotshoe bracket powdercoated black.

Olympus E-M5 and manual focus peaking mode

I assume that one has to choose between focus peaking and autofocus, and that you can't have both going on at the same time. In that case, simply take the CPU time that was being used for autofocus and give it to peaking. I say "simply", but at the very least that's that hurdle taken care of.
