    OM-D vs PEN

Neither does hand-held HR. In my experience you need a really good tripod or no wind. Results are very good if you stand the camera on a rock. The hand-held method seems very different, I think it is really averaging lots of photos in a clever way. The Pen-F way uses precise sensor movements to...

    OM-D vs PEN

The simple answer: S-AF on all the cameras is extremely good. Very fast and very accurate. It is good enough for almost everything. But if you are into things like motorcycle racing, ice hockey, sports etc, then you may want C-AF which only works well on the E-M1 II, E-M1X and E-M1 III. One can...

Did you ever try using S-AF on moving things? Incredibly fast and accurate, works very well.

    OM-D vs PEN

Here are all the technical details. The 12-32 lens was set to 32mm. Camera vertical. I don't move my feet, I face directly ahead. Then I rotate my upper body fully left, then slowly rotate to the right, with a 1/3 overlap between each shot. Normal photos, not hi-res. It isn't needed, the...

    OM-D vs PEN

They are going to become collectables. The Pen-F and the EM1 II and later versions of it are the best made and most reliable of their cameras, with very few faults reported.

    OM-D vs PEN

Yes, stitching has to be done in post, I would want to do it that way anyway. jpgs in this case. I always take raw+jpg. I only need to use the raw when things are very wrong, like colour balance, burnt out highlights etc. For me that is perhaps 1 in 100 photos, the rest of the time I use the...

    OM-D vs PEN

I have the E-M1 II but when hiking I take the Pen-F with the tiny Panasonic 12-32 lens. This makes it very portable. Here is a panorama I made recently using it with that lens. I took a number of vertical shots and combined them. All handheld, just rotating my body. Do be sure to zoom right in...

Epm1 shutter clicks and then turns off

A suggestion. Bang it down hard onto a hard surface such as a table, with the base of the camera hitting the table. That may fix it. Or it may wreck it, in which case you can bin it and not waste any more time and money on it.

New firmware available for E-M1X, E-M1 Mkii and E-M5 Mkiii

If you use Workspace and follow the instructions exactly it backs up and restores the settings automatically, it is not an option. Although you didn't manage to restore them automatically, it should have backed them up. So you could probably restore them now. On the Workspace menu use...

New firmware available for E-M1X, E-M1 Mkii and E-M5 Mkiii

You have to follow the instructions exactly. When it tells you, you must turn the camera off and on and then you wait and the settings are restored without you touching anything. To be safe, save them yourself before doing the update, then you can restore them afterwards anyway.

Case for Pen-F with the new 12-45 Pro lens?

I have a Pen-F with the tiny Panasonic 12-32 lens, in a lovely traditional leather case. The front of the case would also be fine with the small Olympus primes. But now I'm thinking the new Olympus 12-45 Pro lens would go really well with the Pen-F. The problem is that it is far too long for the...

New firmware available for E-M1X, E-M1 Mkii and E-M5 Mkiii

I upgraded Workspace to version 1.3 and then upgraded the E-M1 II to version 3.2, with no problems at all. All my settings were reloaded automatically. I find the Olympus update system excellent and easy. I never have a problem. I can't understand why people don't simply use what Olympus...

E-M5 III custom settings is baffling...Help?

I think what you might have missed is that when you save the settings in the C mode, you must have the Mode dial set to the position you want when you use the C mode. I'll try to make it clearer. Example. You want a C mode to have various settings and you want it to be A mode with an aperture of...

    Black smearing from Epson XP-640

Epson are very good but notorious for blockages if not used regularly. Using HP paper was very optimistic. For example I had all kinds of problems with HP paper on a Canon printer - it would not feed reliably, for no obvious reason. In the end I just binned it all. I suggest you buy a proper...

    Is your clock right?

You know your time zone at the moment so you can work out what UTC is, although you may need to think to get the date right. New PC - iMac 27” Retina 5K Advice

You seem to be looking at the bottom end. The Fusion drives are barely faster than a normal rotating drive. So you should think about paying more and getting an SSD. Otherwise you may be disappointed by its performance. Don't get an SSD that is too small. 8GB may well be OK but is at the bottom...

Olympus does not repair "old camera's"?

Perhaps he will get around to asking Olympus. The message he got also said they don't even need repair! Until he asks we have no information at all, only speculation. I have had excellent service from Olympus in the UK. Their European repair centre in Portugal does good work.

    Modified firmware, looking for users

What you say is true enough, but has nothing to do with the 30 minute barrier. In fact it is 29 minutes 59 seconds, to keep just below 30 minutes. These are two separate issues and you are confusing them. The 30 minute barrier can potentially be removed by a firmware tweak. Failure to split...

    Modified firmware, looking for users

The 30 minute restriction was originally added into camera firmware to avoid trade restrictions and tariffs on video camera imports between various countries.
