    Lightroom JPEG Export Issue

Update - this appears to be a Lightroom bug with the Develop module. When I closed Lightroom for the night and came back this morning, the images in the develop module looked like the exports and Library module versions. I edited a number of photos for awhile this morning and all of the sudden...

    Lightroom JPEG Export Issue

This is the same machine - the screen shot is a single side by side, Lightroom develop and the mac preview app showing the exported jpeg. Been doing a lot of reading, my best guess is this might have to do with the wider color space of the iMac 5K monitor being visible in develop vs what gets...

    Lightroom JPEG Export Issue

I've been away from the hobby for awhile and am getting back into it but have changed out most of my gear and am having some issues. I am using an EM1 II, a 5k iMac, and Lightroom CC 2015. I don't recall having these issues back in my EM1 / PC days. The challenge I'm currently experiencing is...

Sorry folks, I have been out of town for a few days and had pretty much written off this thread as dead! The Teleconverter sold several days ago. The 25mm is all that is left. Make me an offer.

Olympus OM-D E-M1 Level feature design error?

I found it a bit counterintuitive at first as well. I just trained my brain to tilt in the direction of the dots to straighten it out. That mental leap fixed it for me.

Olympus just solved Shutter Shock on E-M1

I have a really dumb question... If the issue is vibration from the shutter, how does a 1/8s delay help? When I first saw that feature I assumed it was to help remove any vibration or movement introduced by the photographer pushing the shutter release. I get how the EFCS can help, I just...

Olympus just solved Shutter Shock on E-M1

+1 on this question.. Is this all benefit or is there some trade off? I suppose if it's only applied on slow shutter speeds, it should be all good as the rolling shutter effects happen with moving subjects and at a slow shutter speed you are going to have trouble with moving subjects anyways.

Olympus 25mm f/1.8 Impressions Part I: Panasonic Comparison - Build, Perspective, Brightness, Bokeh,

Looks like a real winner, thanks for sharing your time and energy for the write up! Personally, I have had the PL25 for a few years and would need it pried from my cold hands before I gave it up. I won't argue better or worse on technical merit, but it's the only lens I've ever owned that has...

Has anyone swapped their primes for the 12-40? Regrets/Success?

I sold my 45 1.8. I found I can isolate well enough with the 2.8 and I just never felt the 45 love and rarely found myself interested in using it. I kept my 25 1.4 for low light and for its general awesome rendering and the 14 2.5 as a tiny walk around. I find the quality and speed of the 12-40...

Anyone waiting for Olympus EM1/12-40 Mail-In-Rebate???

I forgot about mine until I saw this post. I just checked them and they both say they are in the mail back to me by February 5. I wonder what service they used that will take a couple weeks to deliver!

A day at the museum with the EM1 and 12-40

It's pretty usable with good lighting / proper exposure. As a general rule though, I keep the auto upper limit at 3200 and only go above by choice on an as needed basis.

    Help with Polarizing Filters

Based on that article, I've gone with several of the marumi super dhg's over the past two years and I love them. They are affordable, low profile, and noticeably less light reduction than the one B&W I owned.

Showcase Panasonic Leica 25mm f/1.4 DG Summilux

Haha, I understand that problem very well :) Well I can say that prior to getting the new 12-40, this was the lens I used 90% of the time. It's a no brainer in my opinion :)

    Safari Park

Actually it's the 100-300 at 100. The lion was right up against the glass and there was a mob of people. I managed to sneak in an odd angle shot between peoples heads. :)

    Bought a 12-40.....return/keep 60mm Macro.

I thought I would get into macro and picked up the Panny 45mm f2.8 awhile back. However, I discovered "true macro", as described above, to be a lot more complicated than I'd expected with the insanely shallow DoF. I have since recently picked up the 12-40 and found that it's "near macro" is...

    Safari Park

This is the former San Diego Wild Animal Park - now Safari Park, sister zoo to the San Diego Zoo. We had a fun time visiting over the holidays. All shot with E-M1 and 12-40 or 100-300. This was pretty cool - they ran a cheetah full out at 60mph chasing this stuffed toy. At...

    Showcase Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO

I had a lot of time to play with this lens over the holiday on a vacation I took with the family to San Diego. I shot a ton of great pics. I was particularly impressed with its macro abilities, or at least as much macro as I care to use! This was my 9 year old son holding a tiny crab he'd...

    Whales

We went on a whale watching trip in San Diego a couple of weeks ago. We went on the pictured 138' sailboat, and it was quite a treat over the typical noisy metal tubs. It felt much more up close and personal. Shot with EM1 and Panny 100-300. Needless to say, the whales cooperated...

    Flickr Embedding Problem?

It's been a few weeks since I posted any of my photos on here from Flickr and it appears Flickr has gone and changed their interface again a bit more. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this issue. Even though my photos are "Public" (note the unlocked padlock icon), when I hit the share...

Taking photos interferes with memory :study

This quote is key for me.. "Research has suggested that the sheer volume and lack of organisation of digital photos for personal memories discourages many people from accessing and reminiscing about them. In order to remember, we have to access and interact with the photos, rather than just...

After a model shoot event, I disabled GX7 IBIS forever

Those look pretty darn good to me! Maybe too narrow dof if anything as I see pretty darn sharp areas in all of them. If anything, I'd be softening them all in post as they are, if anything, unflatteringly sharp to my eye :)

A day at the museum with the EM1 and 12-40

Thanks! I think it works very well for portraits. I never ran around just shooting portraits, and therefore rarely used my 45s and ended up selling them. This is a very adequate replacement for my limited needs. Here's another one from the day..

A day at the museum with the EM1 and 12-40

Work finally settled down a bit and I was able to get out with the family and my new lens! This was a stunning and emotionally impactful piece made of thousands of dog tags from fallen soldiers. I call this one "bored at the museum"..

    Now that 12-40mm is out

I realize this is off topic a bit, but since we touched in it.. if the lenses suck in a bunch of air (physics dictating they must and all), how do they stay weather sealed and not suck in moisture?

    New OMD EM-1 Noise Question

The em5 used to make the sound constantly when on before a firmware update. Now it does the same thing, it's on during half press and release then goes off. My em1 is quieter than my em5 was in my opinion.

    This is just too perfect!!!

Dumb question - what is it for?

    Olympus 12-40 Ouch!

That is disappointing, especially after seeing digital rev hammering nails with Canon and Nikon lenses on the body. I wouldn't expect that the metal mount would be attached to the metal lens with small screws in plastic.

Should I dump the Oly 12mm now I've got the Oly 12-40mm?

I'd sell it and if you want a low profile discrete wide lens, buy the 14 2.5 for 1/5 of the price and spend the rest on something else. Do you need ultimate quality for the occasional low profile discrete use?

Dxomark review of olympus 12-40 out!

I'm only 24 hours into my Oly. My first impressions - It is heavier than expected, but also nicer than I expected. I expected it to be nice, but it is VERY nice build quality. I haven't used the Panny, but this is without a doubt the fastest autofocusing m4/3 lens I've used. When there...

    E-M5 owners upgrading to E-M1

For me the em1 is the camera that I wanted the GH3 to be. I was a very happy gh2 user that wanted weatherproofing, decent tracking, ibis, peaking, and other evolutionary changes. When the gh3 went larger and more video and didn't deliver on much of my wish list, I settled for the em5 plus hld6...

What are the Side Effects of Shortened Release Lag-Time on the E-M1?

I've never felt like I missed a shot due to lag between half press / focus locked and full press of the shutter on any of my M4/3 cameras dating back to the G1 :)
  46. zpierce

What are the Side Effects of Shortened Release Lag-Time on the E-M1?

According to the manual: If [Short] is selected, the time lag between fully pressing the shutter button and the shot being taken can be shortened.* And it goes on to say... * This will shorten the battery life. Also make sure that the camera is not subject to sharp impacts while in use. Such...
