Headed to Rome this summer...gear advise.

Thanks for all the ideas...lots to consider. I have an epm2...but I really can’t stand using it...not enough dials for my sausage fingers. I wish the pen f was cheaper than $450, and I’d consider replacing it. So that only leaves me with the em1ii. I could leave the 12-40 and take the...

Headed to Rome this summer...gear advise.

As the subject says, I’ll be headed overseas with the family (wife and two kids 9 & 12). Half of the trip I’ll be in Rome, then headed to southern Germany to stay with some friends. The adults have 65L Osprey bags along with day bags that attach to the main pack. Each kid will be responsible for...

Would you trade in your Oly 12-50 for a Panny 12-32?

I own the 12-40 and the 12-32. Personally if I’m putting on a small lens, it’s the 20mm f1.7. The 12-32 was really only purchased for my wife’s camera (epm2) for a trip so that I could shoot lightweight at 12mm.

My E-M1 II High Resolution shots are not sharp!

Last year I shot a photo of Mount Rushmore at night from the parking garage roof with a 150f2 lens. Shutter speed was 3.2s. I feel as though it is perfectly sharp. Tripod used was manfrotto 190 xpro 3 with acratech gp-s. I know the tripod/head is a bit robust for m4/3, but I’m sure it’s a...

Question about the Peak Design Leash strap...

I have the leash that I bought for my em1. When I purchased the em1ii I bought the slide lite. After 2 month since of using the slide lite, I switched back to the leash as I like the smaller strap.

Best companion camera for OM-D E-M1 Mark II

My pocket ninja camera to go with my em1ii is an epm2 with a 20mm with a Gordy wrist strap. It fits in a Crumpler Pleasure Dome bag with a few spare batteries and my 45mm will even fit in it. It’s a really light weight combo. I do eventually want to replace the body as the lack of front dials...

What happens when you’re not used to a new camera!

I once went into a 2nd shooter gig (wedding) carrying my own gear...when I got there the primary shooter had just thrown their back out and was done for the day. She handed me her ff Canon. I took a handful of shots and handed it right back. No way was I going to shoot a wedding with someone...

    12-40 Lens Hood Alternative.

I've now busted 2 of the olympus lens hoods for the 12-40. It's not that I abuse them, they just break by simple everyday use of pulling the camera out of my camera bag. This time it happed on day 2 of a 10 day trip out west where I had planned on using it quite a bit. Luckily, I caught it...

Showcase Olympus 150mm f/2 SHG ZD

One more quick portrait snap...Like I said, you need the working distance. In this case I was shooting from the parking lot, while the family got a head start on the trail. It was insanely bright out...hence all the squinting.

Showcase Olympus 150mm f/2 SHG ZD

There's a giant portrait above your post ;-) The 150 definitely requires some working distance...but I'll see if I can't find some candid family shots of my family where I used this lens.

I almost did...BUT I made room for it...and boy was I glad I did. I shot a ton with it and the EC-20 (left the EC-14 at home). I'm still processing the photos, but I'll post a bunch when I'm done.

I’m headed out to the black hills soon for a camping adventure with the family (wife and 2 kids 7 and 10). We’ll be headed over the mackinac bridge over to Wisconsin (Coloma), then to Sioux Falls, the Badlands, and then the Black Hills. On the way back we’ll be taking the Ferry across Lake...

Looking to upgrade from OMD EM5

Upgrade the glass first. Personally, I’d replace the 12-50 with the 12-40 and add a 75mm 1.8 for a great 2 lens walk around.

Well, it’s that time of year again up here...Cherryfest 2018 and the annual airshow. It was the Blue Angels turn this year (they come every other year). Internal fight over lenses

That and the photographers are at all the popular spots...and they have special character effects that our kids loved. It’s really the only decent choice for Olympus. Panasonic is more of the hybrid camera.

    Fencing...if you get the point.

Here's something out of my norm...action shots. I'm still in the midst of processing 500 or so shots from this weekend, but I think the EM1ii handled it quite nicely. A really fast moving sport. Most shots were around 2000 iso and 1/1250s. Processed in LR and Color Efex 4

    Camera upgrade

All those are fine cameras, but I personally like the option of a used em1.1. It’s Weather sealed, and can use legacy glass due to having pdaf on the sensor. If that’s not an option if you can find a used em5ii then that’s the route I’d go.

What's your OLDEST digital camera that still works?

Used one of those at work for a few years. I ended up taking it home when our office had replaced it with other cameras. My 2 year old at the time thought it was cool, until she twisted it too hard. Oh well, it was free.

I just ordered my G9!!!!! Thoughts as a wedding camera & lenses.

Have ever shot with the 75 f1.8? For me it’s the ultimate portrait lens.
