what photography related item did you buy this week?

I took delivery of a mint Pen F and 17mm 1.8 two days ago. Only 400 snaps on the shutter. I've been out of mu4/3 for a while, roaming around in Fujiland. Over the past few months, I did an extensive gear purge, selling or giving away numerous cameras and lenses. I kept one item for my use, a Pen...

Official MFT Landscape images thread :)

I used to work with someone that had worked at the Aspen Airport. She described the climb-out gradient from that airport as extreme. I see what she was talking about.

We lost our good boy tonight

Very sorry for your loss, from someone else who has had to make that agonizing choice for my own beloved furry companion.

Great outdoor pics. I got rid of my 26x4 fat bike in favor of a Trek 29+ Stache. I had a great time on the fat bike year round, but the Stache is 10 pounds lighter and handles a lot better. But I still suck at hill climbing, although I can climb some hills I couldn't on the fat bike. Don't know...

what photography related item did you buy this week?

I've been away from MFT for a while, since I sold my GX9 and lenses. Years ago I rented a Pen F when it first came out, and it was great paired with the 17mm 1.8, but I just felt the camera was more than I wanted to pay. Fast forward to this week, and I came across a mint Pen F with only 400...

The Dedicated Black & White Image Thread

Very good capture, but the image kind of gives me the shivers. The look in that simian's eyes is unmistakably sinister.

Downhill racers are a different breed. We have several very steep and rocky trails in our area that are used for downhill racing. I've hiked down some of those trails, and I'm quite certain I'd do extreme damage to myself if I tried biking down one of them.

This is actually Blackgum, Nyssa sylvatica. Poison Ivy can have a very similar coloration, though.

    Show "Cars"

Nice set, Ron. Old cars are cool, especially the smaller ones. Not sure I'd want to drive one on a daily basis again, though. Many years ago I had a yellow Honda 600. Cool as can be . . . until we were driving up an interstate entrance ramp, and my wife said "Would you like me to get out and...

    Tour of Britain Cycle Race

I watch the Global Cycling Network channel on YT a lot. Although those guys travel all over the world, they've shown plenty of footage of cycling in the UK. You folks seem to have a lot of narrow, hilly roads. We do in some places, but I'd never ride a bike on one of them.

    Sunset on Huckleberry Knob

Nice set. A few years ago I hiked a 9 mile section of the AT near the TN/NC border in the Roan Mtn area. We climbed to the top of Big Bald before making the return trip. I think our put-in area was called Yellow Mountain Gap. Very windy and chilly in the shade, and very windy and warm out in the...

Wildlife: show us your walk on the wild side and post your wild animal photos

I have never been able to get a good photo of a bear when I've been out in the woods. They always make for parts unknown in a hurry.

    What's your weather?

Absolutely gorgeous day in the foothills of the Appalachians. Mild temperature, partly sunny, and steady light breeze. Great morning to spend a few hours on a woodland bike ride.

what photography related item did you buy this week?

I traded some Fuji gear to mpb for a mint GX9. I also have a PL 15/1.7 arriving today. I'm going to use a legacy Pen F 38/1.8 as my short telephoto on the GX9.

Olympus registers ‘IM015’a mystery new camera

LOL, good one, but I might give that a hard look if that was to happen. I've owned a Fuji X30, and there are some things about a camera like that I really like.

    Showcase Panasonic Leica 100-400mm f/4-6.3 DG Vario-Elmar

Thanks for the info, Jeff. I don't earn money with my images, which is one thing that has me hesitating about getting the 100-400, but the image samples I've seen from it here and on Flickr are very good. I think I'm going to rent one and see how I feel about the handling.

Obviously you folk are producing excellent images with this lens. How do you find the handling? I have a G80, and would like to get a telephoto lens with better IQ than the 75-300 II, but I've never owned or even used a lens the size and weight of the 100-400.

These beauties visit the woods around my house a lot. Today while out in the yard, I saw 4 of them, but these two always stick close together. A mating pair? They very vocally announced their arrival as they landed in a tree on the hillside just below me. I wasn't quick enough to catch them...
