There is a town near Asheville, North Carolina where the squirrels are white- not albino, but with white fur. Quite happy I had my 45-175 with me, there was no way that I was traveling with my 40-150 pro but this lens worked just fine: Hmm, no exif information- I'm using a direct URL embed...

    EM5-III CAF performance

QUOTE="Pluttis, post: 1343911, member: 28648"] Think Oly pro lenses use the digital focus adjustment when you zoom...dont think there is any true parfocal m43 lenses, maybe the new Panasonic 10-25 f1.7? Not an accurate test, but zooming in while using manual focus on my 12-40 pro seems to keep...

Upgrade path; where to start and where to end?

Oh, and I sold my PL15 since I already had the P14 f2.5 with the wide angle converter. I used the money to buy a refirb O17 f1.8 (Vietnamese manufacture), I'm really happy with it. I don't think it gives up anything to the PL15, at least not enough for me to notice. Maybe quality control is...

Upgrade path; where to start and where to end?

I don't get some of the slightly hostile reactions, it seems your post and question align closely with a ton of what's written in this site. One idea for the SW trip- the Samyang / Rokinon 7.5 f3.5 fisheye. Its really small, fairly cheap, very good and encourages new ways of shooting, new ways...

Shootout GAS attack: Oly EM1mkii vs Sony A7iii

My understanding of the 45 f1.8 is that it isn't soft in the corner, it has a curved focal plane. If you set focus on the corner the shot will be very sharp there, it's just not designed for shooting flat surfaces. That makes sense for a portrait lens, where you want the edges to fall off. I...

Ever asked yourself, why does the Olympus 12mm lens have a F2 aperture and not a F4?

I can't imagine anything slower, unless its specialty or cheap. I consider the P14 f2.5 both- it's really cheap, it's tiny, it weighs nothing, it's really good, and it takes the GWC converter which makes it a 11mm. So yes, it counts (I have one and will never sell it).

E-M5 mk III released at US$1199

I don't know my Canon models, but the body is APS-C right? If so, the comparison would be to a ~300mm focal length in M4/3. Even if the PL 100-400 is soft at the limit, that limit is much more reach than the Canon lens you mention. If you want sharp with equally long reach, I would recommend the...

Why lens mounts break off when lenses are dropped

I agree- this whole panic that the mount might break is missing the point. With a big hit, something has to break or bend, and having a plastic mount break is much better than probably any other option. Although, an Olympus engineer might be pretty thrilled with the above photo. If they use...

It does, thank you. The four scenarios that come to mind that are really difficult for me are: 1. The ground is uneven, I'm standing awkwardly and maybe have one knee bent 2. The track is sloping, the car is coming from high right to low left (or even worse, from high right to leveling out in...

Did it, traded my m5 for m5.3

That's still a lot of mass to stabilize and control with one hand, I think the grip would still definitely be preferable. I even like the battery grip on my EM1-II when using the 40-150 pro, it feels better that way.

Ever asked yourself, why does the Olympus 12mm lens have a F2 aperture and not a F4?

I can't imagine any prime being slower than f2, unless its a specially lens (macro etc) or cheap- I don't mind f2.8 on my Sigma 60 because it's so good and I got it used for $150. But f4 on a prime sort of destroys its relevance in any indoor/low light situation, and clearly isn't needed to keep...

It's time to update the F 1.8 Primes...

Totally agree- the 75mm is already "Pro" in terms of optics and build. If they add the focus clutch and weather sealing and call it a Pro version (even if they jack up the price by $50-100 or so), I would swap it. Same for the 17, it's mostly there (mine is a Vietnam built lens and I'm...

Great advice, but which foot do you place ahead? The foot toward the incoming car (usually right foot at Laguna Seca, where most of the shooting positions are from the infield), the foot facing the back of the car as it exits, or do you always have one particular foot forward based on personal...

Vote for 'Your' 'Best' M43 Camera ?

I've had the EM-10, EM-5 II, EM-1, EM-1 II, EPM-2, EP-3, EP-5, Pen F and GM1 (really?! That's insane...) EM-1 II is easily the "best", the Pen F is my favorite, but rationally the EM-5 II is the perfect camera. At some point I'll try the EM-5 III, as its an even more perfect "perfect".
