Hi guys :) I've had a lot going on and dropped out of photography for a while, I've done this in the past as I love my photography and don't like to force it as it's purely a hobby. Hoping to catch up with this thread and the squillion things that have happened on here lately. A new year just...

C&C So what technique am I missing?

Great action shot. The SOOC looks a little softer than the Affinity edit, not sure the W10 app brings anything more to the shot, in fact I think it darkens the midtones a touch. I concentrated purely on the dog.

    Post-Processing Challenge #500 - Jubilee Edition - CLOSED

I tried and failed, much too difficult for me.

Has anybody tried a crystal ball?

My cheapo crystal ball came today, focusing in manual was not too difficult. As I zoomed in at x 10 some very small text appeared...."You are going to meet a tall, dark, handsome stranger" the text then disappeared - spooky

what photography related item did you buy this week?

A crystal ball, after looking at the featured thread; just an 8 quid cheapo. I live on the coast and they seem to work well on a beach - the headscarf and hoop earings will be following soon :)

Some great PP-ing here, thought I would give it a go and use classic thirds, not sure if it works

    Long exposure with 12-40

I can clearly see the lines, I haven't a clue as to why they're there. I'm using a Dell IPS 24" monitor, it hasn't been calibrated, but any prints I get back from pro printing firms are true to the colour. Here's a crop with the lines exaggerated

I love the edit by @Robert Davidson Such a beautiful dog that's very well captured, deserves the frame to itself.

Week 38 - Architecture & Humans: Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.... I was passing through Bristol today and thought maybe I can capture the iconic Clifton suspension bridge with some humans crossing it, they're in there if you look closely - it was absolutely hammering down with rain, and blowing a...

I haven't missed a week, until last week!! I'll play catch up tomorrow, hopefully. I'll have to get my thinking cap on for this weeks challenge - I've gone down with manflu, but honey, lemons and copious amounts of Shiraz should pull me through :)

    War on Pictures at DPR

Looking through the linked pics I can understand why the photographer wanted to share their experience with multiple images. Florence is a magical place, I went for a five day break about 10 years ago, one day I set my alarm for around 6am and wandered around the centre of Florence with my...

This is proving a bit difficult for me, as the new lappy doesn't have a calibrated screen and the colour tones are muted, the two shots below are a sooc jpeg and the split tone shot which may well look oversaturated on a calibrated monitor. I'm at my holiday place and the lappy is all I have...

It's really important shot in RAW for a person like me?

Attached are 2 pics, they have little technical merit and I've posted them before as to why I shoot RAW and jpeg. The only reason I processed them was because I took my life in my hands and clambered onto a slippery rock which had a sheer drop to the water, to see if I could get the shot. One...

It's really important shot in RAW for a person like me?

If the lighting and conditions are right I find fine jpegs are all I need, however, as I'm not the most ddicated photographer and kinda shoot from the hip with a hit and hope mentality, I then find RAW files invaluable at rescuing the shot. A quick blast through Adobe Elements (I like the...

I've been so busy with refurbishing part of my house that I've had little time for photography. I haven't missed a week yet so I set out tonight and 'thought' I took at least half a dozen night shots using composite - however, when I popped the card into the PC there was just one shot!! I must...

4/3 lens on M4/3 body. Any serious disadvantages?

I use an old 4/3 9-18 with EM5.2 and EM 10.2. It works very well and is a great landscape lens. It is a little slow to AF and gives a tiny hunt, but it's not enough to bother me. I have found it a superior lens for landscapes to (now gone) my Canon L 17-40 and a Siggy 10-20; when I shot Canon...

UV Filers for lens protection Yes or No?

When I worshiped at the Canon altar I used Hoya Pro UV filters on all my L glass, since my conversion to m4/3 I don't use any protection filters, but I always use hoods. I sometimes think I should as shoot a bit by the coast where it's generally breezy. I never wipe a lens clean with a random...

You have a good point, unfortunately I've deleted all the original files that I cropped the posted image from, so there's only the cropped image to rotate and heavily crop again. It definitely works and there's a balance to it now, well what's left of the image :)

Most estate agents around here offering properties with a sea view also fall into this category when they upload photographs of said view :)
