Interesting Thom Hogan Article on Mirrorless in 2019

Good point. Also with m43 you can have Oly E-PL or Pana GM series camera as a backup body without too much additional cost or weight.

    Price drop on EM-1.ii?

The E-M5 mk2 is now 4 years old model. On release it was around 1100 € and today it is 799-899 €. I've had mine for almost 3 years and if I remember right I paid 899 for it back then so there has been almost no price drop for that model during last 3 years. Since E-M1X is not replacing E-M1 mk2...

    Olympus service rating

I have sent Oly products to their service at least 5 times but this far those cases have been under warranty. My latest case was different because I had to pay for the repair service of my 12-40mm 2.8 zoom lens. The zoom ring has had small amount of slack for a couple of years now, the lens is...

Olympus should make mk 2 versions of 9-18mm and 17mm 2.8 with better aesthetics and ZERO coatings, add a lens pouch, lens hood and premium looking box and they would sell them like crazy!

This is my third time I have bought this lens. First time I got it used in bundle with other lenses and sold it almost immediately to fund other things. Second time was late 2014 when I bought it brand new, but I was a bit dissappointed to the quality. I felt it was a bit too soft in the corners...

thinking of letting go of my Olympus Pen F with numerous lenses and additional EP5

The Fuji 24 mpix RAW file size was a shock at first, but choosing the lossless compressed RAW from the menu the file size is reduced to about 25 mb.

thinking of letting go of my Olympus Pen F with numerous lenses and additional EP5

I want to add that I'm still happy that I made the switch from E-P5 to X100F. It's so inspiring camera and the output is different (not much better, just different). It makes me want to go take more photos. So to answer OP's question: yes the switch to Fuji system makes sense if you're doing...

thinking of letting go of my Olympus Pen F with numerous lenses and additional EP5

I sold my E-P5 and PL 15mm 1.7 and got Fuji X100F for my 35mm equivalent shooter. I still have E-M5 mk2 as my main camera and too many mu43 lenses. I got the Fuji mainly because I've been fujicurious for long time and also for the form factor: mu43 body with 17mm f/1.4 lens would be bigger than...

    Noise problem with E-M5II

Did you have the long exposure noise reduction ON? The one that takes black frame shot after the actual exposure. Also disable continuous shooting since that shooting mode disables the black frame exposure if I remember correctly. Here is a link to Olympus guide for long exposure: Night...

    Bokeh is highly overated.

One good thing about the tiny 4/3 sensor is that even at f/1.2 it is easy to achieve shallow DOF without over doing it. I usually shoot my fast primes wide open and feel I get enough bokeh, but almost always you can still have some sense of the background too.

Upgrading my camera soon. Im sure this has been done to death.... but....

E-M5 mk2 has much better handling and EVF than the mk1. I know this from experience. Also the hi-res mode would be very handy in real estate photography. It gives you more resolution AND better color accuracy. I think you could do weddings and real estate with only three lenses: Oly 7-14 pro...

I have to agree that there is something special in 25mm focal length in m43 format. It is clearly not wide angle so you really have to pick your subject and you can achieve some bokeh too. But it is easier to shoot close to your subject than telephoto lenses and you can get some feel of actually...

Thanks for your feedback. Usually I convert images to black and white when I can't get the colors to look good (for example mixed white balance) or if I've used high ISO and the color noise is too aggressive. Maybe I should use BW more often just for fun... Actually I've been experimenting with...
