    GX9

Without getting too sidetracked, how are you liking the 5III? I'm also very curious as to how the AFC compares to the G9, when shooting motorsport. Moving cars and motorcycles. Any feedback in the future would be much appreciated. No hurry, just curious if there's a noticeable difference

Loving my little Casio. Been just over a month of usage, & it's lost a whole 5 seconds. I think that's extraordinary -accurate within a minute a YEAR :eek-31::eek-31:

New patent Olympus 8-24mm f/4.0 lens

f/4 zooms make sense to me on 36x24 or larger sensors. Not on little ones. Unless you only shoot static subjects in bright daylight. But that's only me.

I'd forgotten just how much I liked the 60mm (35mm film equivalent FOV) The diminutive little 40mm pancake on my 550D was the lens responsible for setting me off down the fixed focal length path, & I shot way more favorite pictures with it than I ever thought I did. Until I actually looked. The...

    ISO issues with G9

I don't have any issues with it, even on my older GX8. I think you must be doing something wrong somewhere. The G9 is a little bit better This was shot through dirty glass windows ISO 1600 ISO 3200 again

    Northrup too much Bokeh Parody

Ha ha ha. Why bother going to a scenic setting, then blurring it all out? May as well have shot it in front of a white wall, & saved the time and effort.

Shot a Protest with EM 5 MARK 3

I would have liked to see some colour images in there as well. As it was a bit of a gear test/review, and most people generally shoot colour

    So Sad! :-(

So how did we humans kill all the dinosaurs? Or cause the ice age? How about continental drift? The climate has been changing from the beginning of time. It will continue to do so until the end of time. Meteorites has ploughed into us over the years. Huge volcanic activity has changed the face...

What type of bicycle do you ride?

Lol lol lol. Well that didn't last long. Back to regular programming :) No improvement that I could notice on steep descents. No improvement on rollover of rocks, roots logs etc. The only thing I noticed was a bit more flex in the wheel on rocky technical sections. And a tiny bit more cumbersome...

Well I did it. Went from GX8 to GX9 and back to the GX8 again

One of my biggest desires, is for someone to figure out how to slip the GX9 shutter & IBIS mechanism into my GX8. Take my money. Yesterday.

    Panasonic 25mm f/1.7 Haze Issue

Well, I got it as a free bonus when I bought my GX8 just over 4 years ago. So it has to be that old, at a minimum. I did look at the serial number of my GX8, & it was one of the early batches produced -I can't remember where I saw the codes for that though.

    Panasonic 25mm f/1.7 Haze Issue

I got curious, & had a look at a few of my Panny lenses. All as clear as a mountain stream. Here's my 4? year old Lumix 25 f/1.7 (Just had a look, & yeah, it's just over 4)

I really don't think it would be a fungus. More likely some sort of oxidisation, or chemical reaction.

The factory itself doesn't store them. They get shipped out to distribution warehouses in various countries/states, then dispatched to local retailers.

Ha ha ha. Yeah. Because every other service is so much better at protecting your privacy ;) Ironically, the main thing that annoys me about Google, is that it doesn’t work when I travel to China. Something to do with not jumping when the government said jump. Yet Apple and Microsoft product...

Sigma Trinity: First the 16, now the 56. Do I need the 30? Nah.

Okay -to satisfy my own curiosity, I actually got out and tried both lenses back to back today. In real world situations. Between f/1.6 & f/2. I can post a couple of samples up if you like. How many pixels wide would you be interested in seeing for comparison? Or full rez?

What type of bicycle do you ride?

He he he. Like I wrote previously, it's never finished. Playing around building a hybrid. 29er front wheel, 27.5 rear in a 27.5 frame. See how that goes in the rough stuff :) It definitely feels different to ride, just pottering around the back yard jumping kerbs etc. At the least I've got a...

Doing a little bit of shopping with the Wife. Poor little car. Saw 50 degrees register at one point sitting in traffic. From the radiant heat off the road, & surrounding vehicles I guess.

That's way way too long and verbose to make a decent argument. I didn't even make it half way through before my eyes glazed over & I bailed. He? keeps waffling on about how smart Smug Mug is, but they were too dumb to look into the financials before purchasing a giant sinking ship? Really? I...

Upgrade path; where to start and where to end?

I really don't get this. You simply want change for the sake of change? If that's the case, then anything will do. Nothing wrong with that. But if you don't know what you want to achieve, change, or better, then how are people supposed to help with suggestions as to how to achieve that?
  33. S

Upgrade path; where to start and where to end?

Just go out, use your gear, & take heaps of photos. Then you'll know yourself want you want/need, & purchase accordingly. This will more than likely change over time. I'm not you, you're not me, so how do we know what the other enjoys using? I started out with zooms, couldn't understand why...

    Watch Photo Thread

Well, my TomTom watch let me down. About 18 months in, the battery went to Jesus. There is no replacement service available. Basically "just buy a new watch" I find that offensive, disappointing and incredibly wasteful for an otherwise perfectly good watch. No wonder the planet is filling up...

This^^^^^^ I'd bet good money that's exactly what they'll do. I still have a couple of free accounts, I let my Pro subscription lapse when they doubled the price, & shifted all my photos to Google photo. They're losing money because they have no lower tier product available. It's all or nothing...

    Goodbye LR?

Sounds like my experience with ON1. I’m running a Intel factory built i7 quad core NUC, 16GB of RAM, &1.5TB of SSD Hard drives. Just would not run properly for me. I liked the program, contacted support, sent them log files? the works, reinstalled, updated, tried all the fixes, just kept...

    47Mp anyone?

All that extra processing is going to eat batteries and slow the camera down though.
  38. S

    47Mp anyone?

This^^^^^ I don’t want to deal with 47MP files all time. Not in the least. Faster & more usable hand held high res & bracketing modes would be ideal. That way you get to choose when to clog up your hard drives :)
  39. S

    47Mp anyone?

Speaking for myself, I got into interchangeable lens cameras @ 18MP. About 9 years back. I’ve never wanted more since then. What I wouldn’t mind, is a bit better high ISO performance. DR, not so much. I’d 100% trade more MP for a stop or so of ISO performance, every single time. And I basically...

Sigma 56mm vs. Olympus 45mm 1.8 for portraiture

He he he. Yeah, when I look at the photos on my phone, they're all squished the other way, making the 56 look like a pancake lens :) PC browser is fine
  41. S

Sigma 56mm vs. Olympus 45mm 1.8 for portraiture

Hmmmm. Those photos make the 56 look about twice as long as it actually is. It’s actually much short than that, by a lot Edit -never mind, was looking at your post on my iPad which introduced some sort of weirdness, photo's were 90 degrees rotated & stretched & distorted. Web browser looks fine :)

Sigma Trinity: First the 16, now the 56. Do I need the 30? Nah.

I took a few PL25 vs Sigma 30 test shots, & the PL25 is a little bit sharper out near the edges of the frame. Not massive, but it is there. The Sigma shows more CA too. If I had to choose 1 between them, I'd spend the bit extra and get the PL25. If you really want to see the test shots, I'll...

    Z50 and Sigma 100-400

Ahhhh, no they don't, or they wouldn't make the detachable EVF. Which I'm pretty sure it's a tilting model, which is a huge bonus. Plus, they give you a pop up flash, which should work as a master. The add on for the original M does anyway. Plus, you have the EF 1-400 mk II, and little gems...
