Australian fires - New Zealand sky

Tonight's sunset hidden by thick cloud so nothing to see, supposedly sky will clear tomorrow as a southerly front pushes up. The fires are a traumatic event and undoubtedly be years for nature and man to fix the damage that has been done.

Australian fires - New Zealand sky

Today a westerly wind pattren transported smoke particles from Australia over 2000 km across the Tasman Sea over the North Island of New Zealand. The sky went amber inside an hour and must have triggered light sensors as some street lights switched on as well as lights down at the local railway...

My choice of the those items (and a Rio flyline ... and Sage t-shirt) was possibly influenced by my American ancestry - but it has proved to be my luckiest outfit as in one year it has caught four of the biggest fish of my angling career. Mrs Blackbird scolding me for letting the cat's bowl go empty. Quite pleased with the shot as it is uncropped, at 35mm equiv 420mm tele zoom at 1/80th second - you can tell because her lower jaw is flapping and blurred away while her eye and the feathers are pin sharp thanks to the E-M5 MkII...
