GX8 owners who added a GX9 ~ how have you gotten on with the GX9?

I am a confirmed, dyed-in-the-wool, total lover of the GX8. SO much so, that I haven't bought another body since I bought my GX8 when they first came out (4 years ago???)! No subsequent m4/3 body has tempted me since getting the GX8. After year, after year, after year of buying so many new...

    Rumoured Panasonic GX10

Thinking about getting a GX9 to be a secondary camera to my GX8. I like to work with two cameras when I'm traveling. GX8 with Leica 12-60/2.8-4 and something like the GX9 (replacing my GX7) with 7-14, or a fast and small prime, like the 12/2, 15/1.7, 17/1.8, 20/1.7, 25/1.4, 45/1.8. Of course...

    Rumoured Panasonic GX10

I want them to keep the awesome form factor and features of the GX8 (ideal size, very good grip, superb EVF, articulating LCD, top mounted Exp Comp dial), but upgrade to the extra goodies offered in the G9. For me, that would be my ideal m4/3 camera, and I would buy one in a hot second.

GX8 checking in, once again, for my annual "touch bases"

Yeah... in all the years since the introduction of the GX8... shutter shock: ZERO. Never even got close to my radar. Shutter shock has been much overblown, in my personal experience. Use electronic shutter, as a default. Why not? If you feel that you must, for whatever reason, switch to...

GX8 checking in, once again, for my annual "touch bases"

pdk42... yes, I have both the GX8 and the Pen-F. The GX8, all the way around, has such wonderful ergonomics and is just such a joy to use. The Pen-F (without adding on an accessory orthopedic grip device of some sort) is no where near as comfortable to handle and use. I did buy an add-on...

GX8 checking in, once again, for my annual "touch bases"

Still... could not be happier with my GX8. Serves my image-making needs superbly. This camera can easily hold me for a few more years, I'm sure. I can probably hold out until Panasonic comes to their senses and releases a rangefinder of ample size and features to be a truly worthy successor to...

    Official Panasonic G9 Image thread.

This thread makes me think about selling my un-used Pen-F and picking up a G9 (as a companion to my GX8). Nice IQ. And the super-Hi-res option in a Pany body appeals to me.

GX8 checking in, once again, for my annual "touch bases"

I will say, if I were still working, as I ran a full-time portrait and commercial photography studio for many years, the GX8 would not be my "working" camera - but it would definitely be my favorite "personal" camera. :2thumbs:

Exploring the Gx8 and images (anyone can post in this thread...

Reading some of the comments here in this thread, I see that many of you feel the same way that I do about the GX8. In spite of advancements here and there in some features, no other m4/3 camera can touch the GX8 overall for resonating with us as photographers. And, as was said earlier, the...

Exploring the Gx8 and images (anyone can post in this thread...

Miguel... nice images. And, the 12-35 f/2.8 is such a totally magnificent lens! Reminds me I should use mine once in a while... my 12-60 f/2.8-4 has kind of pushed it aside. But you have reminded me of how much I love the 12-35.

GX8 checking in, once again, for my annual "touch bases"

I see that you can still buy new GX8 bodies! Wow. Perhaps I should buy a second one to carry me for another 5 years? BUT, I'm still holding out hope-against-hope that Panasonic or Olympus will create another "totally-killer" rangefinder body, with every new feature that has been...

GX8 checking in, once again, for my annual "touch bases"

Miguel, I too loved the GX7 and still do! It's a fantastic little camera. But once I became accustomed to the GX8... my beloved GX7 has been enjoying an early retirement, luxuriously relaxing in my camera case. I can't bear to sell it, though, as it's just such a wonderful little camera...

GX8 checking in, once again, for my annual "touch bases"

After about 5 1/2 years of non-stop m4/3 body purchases (beginning with my first, in late 2009), it was July of 2015 when the GX8 was announced. I was smitten with what I saw! I bought my GX8 shortly thereafter and my whirlwind escapade of buying new & improved m4/3 bodies (from both...

    What causes this problem?

Thanks for the reply, Mike. Having looked into this more, the files on the card are fine, so the error must have occurred somehow during copying to the computer. I'm relieved that there's nothing wrong with the GX8... my favorite m4/3 camera of all time! I recopied the files over to the...

Thanksgiving - the GX8 has saved me SO much money!

Why? The size and controls, the ergonomics, the top mount exposure comp dial, that viewfinder!, the fully-articulating screen, the rock-solid build quality, and especially, the huge & juicy RAW files that it outputs. This is a real home run model for Panasonic. I hope they realize that and...

    G9 vs. GX9 ??

GX8! Awesome image quality. 20mp sensor. Great body design, ergonomics, features, nice size. I was sorry to learn what the GX9 is. And the G9 is way more camera than I would want. Makes me cling to my GX8, and GX7, even more.

This lens can resolve to surprisingly fine detail. It's a slam dunk winner, especially if you need the compact form factor. I don't use mine often - because I don't often need that form factor - but I have no intention to ever let this fine, little lens get away from me.

    Hello Panasonic You Screwed Up

I think the GM5 (yes I have one) is a bit of a "specialty" camera, therefore the sales were not sufficient for Panasonic to keep making it. For general use, it's really too small - even though the form factor may be appropriate once in a while. This is undoubtedly why sales were not sufficient...

I’ve been using my GX8 almost exclusively (among others I presently have like Pen-F, GX7, EP-5, GM-5). You will love it! The build quality is fantastic, as is the image quality. And the focal length range is great, too. Think of it as a very high quality f/4 constant aperture zoom lens, with the bonus of f/2.8 at 12mm. It is easily my #1 lens now (of the 16 or so nice lenses that I have).

    Panasonic GX9

The GX8 still reigns supreme at my house, and likely will for another year or two. I use electronic shutter and have never had a problem of any sort with this awesome camera. I was hoping that the GX9 would be exciting enough to bump my GX8, but NO. GX8 can easily serve for another couple of...

    Panasonic GX9

I think Pany kind of "screwed the pooch" with the GX9, coming from the stellar GX8 (which I love). The loss of the great EVF and built-in finger grip are not pleasing to me. At least they retained the Exp Comp dial on the top deck - that is important to me.

    Primes or Zooms?

Many of the zooms we have today are so incredibly sharp and render so beautifully that I view my (many) primes as “specialty” lenses. For example, the new Pana/Leica 12-60 f/2.8-4 is a stunningly wonderful lens with a very useful focal length range. Of course primes still have there place...
