EM10II(or III) vs. EM5II vs. nothing

It is admirable that you study and learn so many of the detailed operations of the cameras. I am a sucker for the latest and greatest, and use several brands such as Panasonic, Olympus and Canon. I have fun learning the new features ,but probably don't masters each one. Progress seems to be...

EM10II(or III) vs. EM5II vs. nothing

No. .I was just saying why I accepted the camera for what it is .Some people get so emotional about certain features of cameras to a ludicrous extent. It is a free market and they are not forced to purchase any camera. I just see so much negativity every time a new camera comes out. To me the...

EM10II(or III) vs. EM5II vs. nothing

I don't use a lot of the fancy settings. So I don't miss them. Most users don't. I like good IS, fast accurate focus. I don't spend hours looking at the periphery of the picture for softness, or taking pictures in the rain. If it rains ,I slip the camera under my coat. Since I don't have perfect...

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III Image Thread

I went up the hill east of town to see sunset, like hundreds of other people. It was Packed and the were a lot of clouds,so I left. On the way back down the hill the scene was to the west overlooking the town. One should be patient, because when I got down the hill there was the most magnificent...

EM10II(or III) vs. EM5II vs. nothing

I have never figured out why the E M-10 III is so reviled. I got one and it works just dandy. It works just like the other Oly cameras light and has built in flash. Uses same battery as the EM-5,III. 5 way IS, Only 16 MP sensor. Venus 8 engine. Much lighter than the EM5-lll. ,but you can...

Are there aperture numbers you just don't like?

I use A on all my cameras. Since I pay good money for fast lenses,I always go to widest aperture. Now that I see that pictures are sharper,I stop it down a little. Sometimes I accidently go to narrower aperture, due to accidently rubbing the outside of the camera,or internal spirit of camera. I...

Olympus user looking to switch to G9 primarily for stills, anyone else make the switch?

I don't know anything about eye tracking on G- 9.but on Bif ,I found that using Oly 300mmF4 was quite good. The camera needs to be on AFC at all times when you are doing BIF,because otherwise the camera will not lock on the bird and will wander all over the place. If the bird is sitting still...

    New Olympus Camera Mid February

It would have to have some features markedly upgrading features I really value. Not better weather sealing, better CAF ,or more comfortable grip,10 K video, more pixels for hi- res. What they have in the MX and EM5--lll is just so good for work- a- day pictures, which is what I take.

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III Image Thread

Works good in low light. 1600 ISO. Great image stabilization. Works well with Panny lens, but sure to turn off IS on lens.

    Pen F....a 'lovesome' thing.

I have one and was going to sell it because of the whacky controls. Now it is a knock about camera. But I decided to put a Metabones .71 converter to put Canon lenses on. There it is over on the floor over there, Darn,it is holding up pretty well. Case is immaculate, and only one tiny chip in the...

You already have yourself weighted down with all those unnecessary grips and batteries. Put battery in pocket. Use ultra- lite monopod to steady the camera.

E-M5 mk III released at US$1199

I must be fortune teller. The pre- Mk III discussion madness was out of control. Now the predicted let down. I have been using the MX-1 and find it incredibly flexible and intuitive, for an Olympus person. It is a bit bulky. I was using the Pen F-1 but can't get used to the oddball controls, so...

I know you didn't ask me,but I just let my eyes do the work. I was magically attracted to this one,but for one thing. That puff of green on the bottom left is distracting. Otherwise, the geometry Bokeh and subject are real nice.

E-M5 Mk.2 - What is better for battery life?

I turn mine off a lot because it takes it longer to wake up than boot up. Sometimes I forget to turn it off, which is of no great consequence. In fact some cameras are so balky it is faster to just turn it off and than make it reboot. This is just from memory. I don't measure this with a...

    M10.2 vs M10.3 grip shape?

All depends. The Pen F-1 has a finger grip. the MX 1x has a massive grip. M-10 -iii has something in between. Mostly it is the size of the lens that counts,as to which grip is better.

    Alert : EM5 Mk3 Release this year - it’s (well nearly) official

It is a big camera doing well with big lenses. It has AI modes for cats,or is it trucks. Other than more computerized whiz bang stuff people want it to break the laws if physics, but not the bank. The M5iii may have a quantum chip equivalent the Mount Palomar Telescope, for only 8 hundred...

Pen-F - my first week with it.....

I have gotten more unsolicited comments about my Pen-F than any other camera. People actually think it is an old film camera. I tried the grip but don't think it helps much. It is still a small grip but does better with smaller lenses. Still I have gotten very good results with the 40-150...

    Olympus vs. Panasonic lenses?

I have many of both types and have wonderful results with both. I don't take many pictures in dust or rain storms,so don't worry too much about sealing. In everyday conditions I really can't tell the difference whether you use dual IS for any particular lens and can't justify purchasing camera...

    Alert : EM5 Mk3 Release this year - it’s (well nearly) official

Why don't they change the title of this discussion? I keep thinking it might have something to do with the much anticipated EM-5 III. Oh. also that 12-100 F-4 lens is a killer, since you get unbelievable IS.

the ideal 3 lens kit (ONLY 3) for a bit of everything

You only need one. Oly 12/100 f4 But since you get 3 I would get 12 -35 f2.8n Panny, since it is light and fast and a 60m Oly macro,as it is light and fast.
  36. Drdave944

How to reduce my lens lineup...

Being so compact and fast the 20 and 14 should be kept,as they take up no room, are good for low light and indoor photos. If you sell them you will get practically nothing. Sell everything but the 12-32 and the 9mm.

Silver vs Black... for GX85: What is the most resistent color?

As a general rule the base of the camera is the most vulnerable part.especially the grip. You get chips or dings. If you use a tripod, the area of attachment wil wear. Black cameras show dings worse. The best solution is to have the base encased, whatever camera you use.Cameras usually are...
