    Film Processing Woes

I'll wait until I have final resolution of my dispute. I should have started the dispute at the two week mark, which was the agreed turnaround time, instead of allowing another week, as eBay extends the time for the seller to respond by further week. I still haven't received the film.

    M4/3 Resolution future ?

Ten years of constant putdowns about megapixels starts to wear thin after a while. Even someone with the patience of a corpse eventually wants to rise up and knuckle the clown that persists with this crap.

    M4/3 Resolution future ?

For all those that want more megapixels, the doors to other systems are open and welcoming you in. There's no point in bleating about things here, when the green, green, grass is easily within reach. But then again, isn't this the best place to put down m4/3?

    M4/3 Resolution future ?

I don't think it is legitimate. It's the same rubbish that has followed Olympus/Panasonic since the 4/3 days. That's all that you ever heard on DPR, for example, when the megapixel wars were a going concern. Now we seem to be returning to those megapixel wars for some unknown reason. Tell me...

    M4/3 Resolution future ?

Yep, you soon won't able to take a decent photograph with a m4/3 camera and everything produced so far will be utter rubbish, as every other brand will have awesome megapixels by comparison. Will this meme ever die?

Open request to olympus: f/4 pro lenses

In the 4/3 range, there were very few primes compared to m4/3, but the 150mm f2 and 300mm f2.8 were definitely SHG. Yes, trying to showcase a similar range of lenses in m4/3 would have a serious impact on the size argument.

Your last shot is the most interesting and striking of all to me. This seems to be one of those landscape where you can't capture it all, but have to look for the dramatic to convey something special.

It is odd that in the 4/3 range, Olympus produced three grades of lens standard (S), high grade (HG) and super high grade (SHG). The HG lenses were typically f2.8-3.5, weather proof and of very high optical quality. This range of lenses appears to be missing in the m4/3 line-up.

There's no doubt that AF technology has improved. I certainly wish my 35-100mm lens had the same SWD motor as the 14-35mm.

All I can base things on is my personal experience using 4/3 lenses on a m4/3 body. I tried things out with my E3 with much the same results.

Open request to olympus: f/4 pro lenses

That's partly true, but the focus motor in the 18-180mm is of the same vintage as that of my 35-100mm f2 (which has a lot more mass to move), yet the latter focusses faster and doesn't hunt like the 18-180mm, especially when conditions aren't bright. A bright aperture allow the focussing...

Open request to olympus: f/4 pro lenses

One thing to also note is that the faster the lens, the faster is the focus speed. I can clearly tell the difference when using my f2 lenses, compered to my 18-180mm f3.5-6.3 (which I don't use anymore).
  18. OzRay

    I've seen this somewhere before.

But because Blackmagic has rights to manufacture and use the m4/3 active mount, it would seem that there could be more to this than mere coincidence.

    Film Processing Woes

What I find so sad about this saga is that there are groups that supposedly want to keep film alive, yet completely drop the ball when it comes to doing what they profess. I've been holding off on a blog post for months now, waiting to put together the digital and analogue results, only to find...

    Film Processing Woes

I was trying to be nostalgic and re-live a past era, as a reminder of what we no longer need to do in terms of buying film, exposing it, getting it processed and then printed or converted to digital. I've come back to earth with a thud. :(

    Film Processing Woes

Some time back, I exposed two rolls of B&W film to test out my Kodak Retina 1B and Olympus Trip 35 film cameras. Nearly a month ago, I sent the two rolls for processing in Melbourne to a developer that states a two week turnaround. Last week I emailed the processor and asked them what's...

Lens field of view on M43 bodies - please clarify

To revert to serious mode; I find it interesting as well as disappointing that people still obsess about lens comparisons between formats. I think I mentioned this once before, but it never happened in my film days when I used 35mm, medium format and large format; you simply learned how lenses...

It's not a fault. Communications with 4/3 extension tubes/tele-extenders would only work when installed one at a time, I emailed Olympus years ago and that's what they said. Oddly enough, you can add as many extension tubes/tele-extenders (m4/3 and 4/3) with m4/3 bodies and they all communicate...

Scalable storage solutions. How do you handle dwindling HD space?

You must take and keep an awful lot of photos. I'm still able to store all of mine in a 1TB HDD with room to spare. Personally, I don't like the idea of storing things in ever bigger drives, if it fails, you've lost plenty. Even if you have other backups, Murphy is always waiting. If you need...

I'd say that compacts are more or less dead in the water. Camera phones already rival some compact cameras in regard to image quality and operating performance, not to mention versatility, and you just can't beat the fact that you are far more likely to have a mobile phone in your possession...

Whenever I'm working on my vehicle, I often take photos to record the processes involved.
