I have been asked to do senior portraits for a family member. I've never done posed portraits before, and everybody involved knows that, so there are no great expectations. I don't really have issues with posing, there are plenty of posing guides and we have time to experiment.
My issue is...
I did that for a while back in the 90's working for a friend of my dad's. We did worker's compensation stuff for a major retailer. It was boring. Had to sit for hours to get 30 seconds of video. Paid off a couple times but otherwise it was just a lot of sitting around.
This is a shy one, took me two weeks of lunchtime to get this one.
I took a couple from pretty far away, then once I moved in I saw him turn to look at me. Once he turned I had time for 4 frames. One was out of focus, one missed completely. I guess 50% isn't too awful.
E-P1 with Oly 40-150
From a high school production of Beauty and the Beast I went to see last night. These two are part of the chorus.
For these I use my Olympus OM 135 f3.5. I have to use manual focus, as the focus confirm beep is distracting to the people around me.

The focus is pretty dang fast, but you have to put the target in the green box or it won't work.
And yeah, that swan terrorizes that pond. Last year I got a little close to the nest and he came after me. He's a huge bird, and scary.
I walked with some friends to a nearby restaurant. I grabbed my E-P1 and new 4-150 lens, just in case.
My friend's favorite bird is the red-winged blackbird. So I saw one sitting on a cattail and was stalking him, trying to get close enough for a good shot. Suddenly I heard a commotion and he...
It's not bad, I only paid $160 for it (demo). It had a tough time focusing on the in flight airplanes, I had to get it right in the green box before the lens would even focus. It would have been nice to have more reach, but the camera and the lens are small and I can carry the E-P1, 20mm Panny...
I bought this demo lens 2 weeks ago but today was the first time I got to do much with it. Took it to the Gathering of B-25s at Grimes Field in Urbana Ohio.
I really needed a polarizer.
5 World War II bombers flying around a small Western Ohio town. It was just a little surreal.
