Dear Olympus, please explain your actions

lol sorry I can't keep up with all the political scams, there's just too many to follow. But back to the semi serious note, obviously right now they don't have "proof" of anything illegal as it would be in court if there were concrete evidence. My point is, as some one else mentioned, this is...

Dear Olympus, please explain your actions

The problem here is that the executives have not proven that they had no financial gain due to the massive apparent lapse in judgement. We're talking over 1 billion dollars here. If they had any financial interest or any relationship to the companies whom benefited from those lapses in...

Ex-Olympus chief questioned payments - FT.com There appears to be a scandal brewing in the management of Olympus. Personally, I don't get to vote on Oylmpus' board of directors nor managers. I do however get to vote with my wallet and I hope other consumers start learning to do the same...

    Camera Store GREED

Yes, a store has to make money, but give this some thought, if your $150 sellable lens is only worth $40 for them to buy... Then it stands to measure that a new $300 lens for sale probably only costed them $200 from the distributor... I don't know if this holds true or not for camera...

    Camera Store GREED

this is not entirely true, ebay does have to pay 1) employees 2) building / realestate 3) electricity 4) insurance They're just more effective at managing it and leveraging the advantages of online. You pay for that embedded in the fees the seller pays. There are some retailers which have...

    Camera Store GREED

Unfortunately that's not just camera stores, it's pretty much all stores. There's so many stores complainning about "online" sending them out of business... well no, they're sending themselves out of business because their providing over priced, poor service, and poor selection. Most store...

who makes a 37mm gradient / graduated nd filter?

yeah I just found the similar, after going through a bunch of shops online checking for sizes it seems like the smallest from name brand manufacturers is 49mm. There's some dodgy no-name filters on ebay but I'm a little concerned about those. Now I'm just mulling over if that's something I...

    Thoughts on 4:3

Personally, if I've paid for the full surface area of my round lens, then I want a round sensor! How do I know they didn't have anomalies and scratches on part of the lens that isn't hitting my sensor?! Give me a round sensor... I'll decide the aspect ratio later while mulling on...

who makes a 37mm gradient / graduated nd filter?

it's an option if I can't find one but it kind of defeats the purpose of a small lens if there's a huge filter stuck on it. I'd rather keep the whole setup "small" if possible. If not possible... then I might consider my options.

yes I did, I don't think any of those are graduated filters

    Mirrorless Nikon 1 Debuts

yeah that sample picture is not bad. The one thing that gets me and has been bugging me for a while, is the reality of the digital viewer. Ok so maybe the picture doesn't has as much detail as your m43, but most people's tv's or screens have something less than or equal to 1920x1080...

No I believe that page is correct, the devil is in the details :) UHS and regular cards are NOT inherently compatible. (reference : https://www.sdcard.org/developers/tech/speed_class/) Some manufacturers have build dual bus cards so they effectively are compatible... Sandisk is one...

    Mirrorless Nikon 1 Debuts

I've been thinking about nikons small sensor thingy and it unfortunately does actually make sense. 1) if you care about image quality the most, to a nit picking detail, you're not going to buy a m4/3 because quality will trump size, you'll probably buy a medium format, or full frame, or at...

    EPL1 cropping capacity!

well I think he's using the term cropping a little loosely. I think we're talking about crop & scale here. If you scale down an image... say for rendering on a computer screen, then you do start to lose sharpness as you crop.

it's the mu-43 galleries (and a lot of other online gallieres) get re-scaled and the compression quality gets re-jigged when rendered... Submitted in a kindly spirit: Interesting discussion on NEX Flange back challenges.

Yes as long as you fix it somewhere, it's fixed. The problem is when they don't fix it i.e. The current nex's. as for where to put things, lens or sensor, i don't know why they male the choices they do, you'd figure a motor in the body would make cheaper smaller lenses too but they put that in...

Submitted in a kindly spirit: Interesting discussion on NEX Flange back challenges.

Are you *sure* about this? The way i read it, although i may be wrong, is that the nex system uses lenses that send light to the sensor at an angle, similar to most nikon/canon/alpha dslr's. This means even with native nex lenses there is a problem. I.e. they require micro lens correction on the...

Submitted in a kindly spirit: Interesting discussion on NEX Flange back challenges.

If i recall proplerly, for native 43 & m43; the spec says light leaving the lens is suppose to be perpendicular to the sensor. If that's true then. The distance for m43 systems is irrelevent and micro correction lenses would not be useful (for native lenses). I think thats why they say 43 is...

Why do our cameras have shutters?

As far as i'm aware there's no real reason other than electronics isn't good enough yet. The shutter speed is slow and as mentioned theres...

interesting topic, I'd been wondering that myself, but keep this in mind. the speed of sound is roughly 340.29 m/s The difference of having it 2cm apart or 10cm apart.... I don't know if the electronics is good enough to capture the difference. 10cm / 340290 cm is roughly .0000293866 seconds...

    Memory Cards

It's not that simple though. The speed of the card varies depending on the size of what is being written, that's why the manufacturer can't just say it's a 30mb/s card. Lensfun / ufraw lens correction profile for 17mm prime
