    Speedboosting vintage lenses on a GH5 (M42, M39 etc.)

Its a different design with different glass. You can't use a focal reducer with m39/LTM glass - just not enough room for the focal reducer to do it magic.

May start up again. Your opinions welcome.

I may be reading your words incorrectly, but don't restrict yourself to the m43 market. Many more legacy lenses enthusiasts exists in the apsc and full frame worlds :) Yeah shipping prices suck these days unfortunately.

Worth buying a body with AF problem as body for manual lenses?

Heh - it was a concern initially for me too, but I reasoned (correctly I think) that folks have been taking photo's fine for more than a 100 years without IBIS, surely I can do the same. Just keep the shutter speed up and hold down the shutter button to get a few at once. Seems to work so far...

Worth buying a body with AF problem as body for manual lenses?

I have somewhere close to 50 lenses - all of them SLR - and yeah its too many, but collected over the last 7 years or so. Konica's, Vivitar's, Tamron's, Yashica and some nice Contax Zeiss pieces. Its one of the reason why I moved to Fujifilm with a Metabones Speedbooster. The interesting 'colour...

Worth buying a body with AF problem as body for manual lenses?

Yeah... shame about the focusing haptics. Once you have had Zeiss, you can never go... umm back :p Some focal lengths for m43 native manual focus are covered by Chinese manufacturers, but not all. I do love the elegance and size of some of the m43 bodies as @Bidkev so aptly flaunted earlier in...

<drool> does anyone make a 17mm f2.8 m43 manual focus lens. Maybe in silver?

Getting close to 17mm F/0.95 without paying for Voigtländer

Some APS-C lenses can be used. The Nikon 35mm f1.8 DX is quite good. See this post where it is compared favourably to the Panasonic 25mm f1.4 - Leica 25mm f/1.4 vs. Nikon 35/1.8 DX + Speed Booster Edit: but yes its a mirrorless lens, so the register distance prohibits a focal reducer being used.

    Resolving Power with Legacy Glass

There are a few well known zooms that can give you a decent image. In the 80-200mm range, the Canon FD L f4 and Contax Zeiss f4 zooms are considered to be very good across all apertures. The Tamron 60-300mm is a nice bang-for-buck one at f5.6 or f8 depending on your subject matter. And then...

Which FD focal reducer for casual portrait

You only get optical degradation if you don't buy quality. Plenty of examples on this forum where focal reducer with old manual glass can almost match the output of modern Olympus glass at the price point of a single Olympus lens ie Metabones Speed Booster + Nikon 105mm f2.5 vs Olympus 75mm...

Loss in IQ from Metabones? Just an Inquiry.

The Speed Boosted image should show smaller image aberrations depending on your lens and shooting conditions. In addition, some would consider the smaller depth of focus with the Speed Booster 'an improvement'.

Loss in IQ from Metabones? Just an Inquiry.

I vaguely recall some MTF charts of the XL. Since it was designed for the Super-16 format of the Black Magic camera that just happen to use the m4/3 mount, the MTF wasn't crash hot outside of the Super-16 zone. Your standard Ultra 0.71 version would be better for stills where you require good IQ...
