O75, O45 and PL25 all sold. O17 (with metal hood) still available. I have not found the lens cap (don't worry, it's been in a soft pouch for protection), but they are available from Adorama, etc., for $8. Actually, there are some pinch caps that might actually be better, especially with the...

Keep or sell the Olympus 12mm/2.0 Special Edition?

If you look at "Sold Listings" on Ebay, most of them fall in the $750-$850 range. If you're patient, you might get more, but I wouldn't expect it. I really don't see any "Collector's Item" value increase. Maybe I'm wrong, but prices seem to be decreasing, not increasing. Personally, I often...

COMPLETED Zeiss Touit 32 mm F/1.8 Fuji X Mount | Location: USA | Ships: Worldwide

Just so there isn't any confusion, the "bundle" is just a price discount for purchasing both together. They do not come package together. You receive two separate lenses packaged exactly as they are when purchased individually. So, it really doesn't matter if this was part of the bundle or...

4/3 vs Full Frame - DOF and f-stops

I always like to think about this issue working backwards from the image that I want. Let's say that I have an image in my head that I want to capture. This can be broken down to a desired field of view, depth of field, perspective and exposure level (also, I might have a desired level of...

Olympus 20% Off on Refurb Products

I added both the Mk I and Mk II, and then did a quick search about the differences, if any. Came back and found the Mk II "Out of Stock" in my cart. Grabbed the Mk I (was a little cheaper anyway.) Yes, they do take Paypal. I received a "shipped" notification yesterday afternoon, so it can...

The shooting experience between Olympus, Panasonic and Fujifilm

I'm used to my E-M5 now, but I remember feeling that my GX1 (as well as G3, GH2, GF1 and G5, at various points before that) was more straight-forward to use. If it weren't for the features of the E-M5, I would not have enjoyed the switch. I've got an X-T1 on pre-order to try out, but haven't...

OK, no more ethical debate. Yes, ethics aside and purely for information sake, the fees that one might have to pay for Paypal Gift are the credit card transaction fees (Paypal will move your gift money for free, but not for a loss) and possibly currency exchange fees. If one uses a linked...

Attention: Suspicious Activity in Buy & Sell: Lothe1961 and various aliases

Because you are fraudulently using a free service not meant for sales to bypass paying for a legitimate sales processing service that they provide for a fee. You have two options: pay the fee to purchase through them or don't purchase through them. They're not a charity; they're a business.

New E-M1-alike Fuji X-T1 on the way

I would say that the E-M5 was actually the start of the retro-SLR with center EVF hump mirrorless category. The E-M1, A7/A7R and now X-T1 are all part of that category. The Df gets mentioned with them, since it is also retro-SLR with center hump styled, but it has a mirror and OVF. Previous...

New E-M1-alike Fuji X-T1 on the way

This is one reason why the f-number scale bothers me a little. They should have used the ratio of aperture area to focal length, so that double would be double, like it is with shutter speed and ISO. With aperture, 1.2 to 1.8 doesn't seem like much, but it is actually 1.17 stops, which equates...

New E-M1-alike Fuji X-T1 on the way

I was just poking fun. It's easy to do. I know I have before. Yeah. It was part of Fuji Rumors' old rumored specs, then went away when he was told that it actually has a slot for the new high-speed cards. Turns out that both were true. Very cool.

Fuji X-T1 Rumors and Release (1/28/14)

According to the latest rumored specs, AF speed is 0.08s. I assume that is in good light, so maybe it is affected more in low light than other systems. Who knows ... yet. More pics and specs

Had a few "real life" things come up, so I haven't had a chance to put this up elsewhere (only Amazon, so far.) Figured that I'd offer it up here one more time. If you have a D800 (or D700, etc.) with the Nikon 24-70/2.8, then sell it and buy this. Put the big difference in $$ into more stuff.

Fuji X-T1 Rumors and Release (1/28/14)

Haven't seen much discussion about this, so I figured that I would start a new thread. The X-T1 (rumored name) is Fuji's "me too" retro-SLR-styled mirrorless cameras, following on the footsteps of the Olympus OM-D line, the Sony A7/A7R and, to a lesser extent, the Nikon Df. Current...

    E-M5 extended ISO

I prefer to stay at or below 3200 even in low light, but sometimes you need that extra stop to keep from getting motion blur. 6400 is usable, as long as you don't print too large, but it drops off very quickly. It becomes a question of which is the lesser of two evils: motion blur or noise...

    FT5: olympus 25mm f1.8

I have a love-hate relationship with the 45/1.8. I love the results, but hate the physical lens. Conversely, I love the physical characteristics of the 17/1.8, but the results are less wow-ish (still very good, but doesn't have that same level of pop.) The 25/1.8, while looking similarly...

I use mine to take my "Show us your E-M5" pics. It's hard to go back to it, especially in low light. However, for black-and-white, it can be fun.

    EM5 grip

It depends a lot on usage. I don't change batteries while shooting that often, even when just using the first part. However, when I do, it literally takes less than 10 seconds to change the battery. The grip screws out and back in very easily. Obviously, I would have rather had them put a...

    EM5 grip

HLD-6. Leave both parts on most of the time. Gives you great portrait and landscape grips in a package the height of an enthusiast-level DSLR. Plus, when needed, one or both parts can be taken off to reduce size (though, I rarely take both off.)

    Newbie help for indoor photos

Not that I trust Wikipedia for much, but in an article on lens speed, it includes a quote that sheds some light on which is the correct reason for classifying a lens as "fast" (or "rapid" in 1911): Clearly, this predates autofocus. Also, if you Google the term "fast lens", you find numerous...

    Newbie help for indoor photos

Taking a picture is about gathering enough light to be properly exposed. There are four ways to get more light: 1) Use external lighting (flashes, strobes, sun, lights, etc.) 2) Keep the shutter open longer (i.e., slower shutter speed.) 3) Use a bigger lens opening; a.k.a., aperture (i.e...
