COMPLETED For Sale or Trade: Olympus E-M10 and Panasonic 20/1.7 | Location: USA | Ships: USA

In looking around the various forums it's pretty clear that this combo is not going to sell anytime soon unless I give it away (got a few super low ball offers on eBay). So I'll just keep it. I'm sure I can find a use for it. WITHDRAWN

    OMD as X100

That's a great idea but I am not really as interested in getting an X100 as I am getting better BW out of the OMD I already have. I can see this is just going to take me noodling with it until I get it dialed in. I'm sure it's possible as I have seen some nice examples of it.

    OMD as X100

    Thanks for all the tips.

    OMD as X100

Yep, from the images I have seen I think they do look different. I won't say they're better because that's a subjective thing but I find that I prefer that look. To me it's very film-like. I'd like to get images from my OMD that look like that. If it's not doable, I can live with that.
  12. D

    OMD as X100

I agree that the E-M10+P20 and/or P14 make a nice compact kit. I have done RAW shooting for years and I have a pretty good work flow. I prefer C1P as a RAW converter (I just don't think the LR does a particularly good job of dealing with Olympus RAW files) then to Tonality CC for BW conversion...

    OMD as X100

I have seen really nice BW from SOOC JPEGs with the OMD so I know it can be done. I like to think of it as a puzzle I need to solve. Ordinarily I would just move on but it was a gift so I feel obligated to stick with it. I have other cameras to use so it's not like it's stopping me from making...

    OMD as X100

That's interesting, part of what I like about the OMD is how nice it is to use. That said, I don't find the images (mostly BW) quite to my liking, but the nice usability and controls are so nice that I would like to figure out a way to get there.
  18. D

    OMD as X100

Yep, I suspect that eventually I will find myself with some version of an X100. ProbblY not at the moment but the more responses I get the more I am starting to think that I simply cannot get where I want with the OMD.
  19. D

    OMD as X100

I tend to shoot static objects at close and middle distance, although I am starting to play with more landscapes. I rarely do images of people.
  20. D

    OMD as X100

I used to shoot an X-E1 so I'm sure I would like the Trans-X versions of the X100 as well. I also know a bit about the quirks of the original X100 so I completely understand why someone might choose to go with on the other models.
  21. D

    OMD as X100

Yes, I have been tweaking the various image parameters such as contrast, sharpness as well as the tone curves and so far I have not hit on any combination that delivers in-camera BW that I am completely satisfied with. It's not bad mind you, I have been able to produce some very nice images with...

    OMD as X100

Thanks and if I decide to go wth the X100 I know I would be tempted by the newer X-Trans versions for a variety of reasons but I find something about the output of the original Bayer sensor X100's very appealing. That said, I will probably still try to get there (or as close as I can) with the...

    OMD as X100

Thanks for the great suggestions. I definitely get better results shooting RAW+JPEG and doing PP in Tonality Pro or Silver Efex Pro. I was hoping to be able to get there with JPEG but it just may not be possible. It wouldn't be the end of the world. I am trying to do this without spending much...

    OMD as X100

I like the OMD and it's really nice for a lot of things but where I am these days photographically doesn't really take advantage of what the OMD does well. Like you I do not seem to be able to get images that have the "shading nuance" as you so eloquently put it. The OMD was a gift from my...

    OMD as X100

I quite like the notion of a single focal length kit similar to the Fuji X100. The idea is to shoot BW JPEGs only. So why not just get an X100? Well, I have an OMD and there is a nagging voice in my head telling me I can do this. I got the OMD as a gift and thought originally I would build a...

What's your favorite adapted lens on m43?

I agree. I am finding the SMC 50/1.4 to be remarkably similar to the Super Takumar 50/1.4 (except K mount)

There is no arguing that the O45 delivers nice images.

What's your favorite adapted lens on m43?

That's why I don't have any OM lenses anymore. While the Canon, Minolta, Konica lenses aren't necessarily better...they're no worse either. My experience has been that you can find a really nice fast 50 for not much money and be more likely to get a good copy with other brands than with OMs. If...

What's your favorite adapted lens on m43?

True enough. I feel like I have a pretty good handle on their history and which lenses are supposed to be better and I have had good luck with some focal lengths of OM lenses. For instance all of the various OM 28's I've had were very good and yet all of the 24/2.8's I've had (3 in all) have...

What's your favorite adapted lens on m43?

I have thought about that. I have had some good OM lenses and some bad ones. The good ones have been really good and the bad ones, well... It strikes me that OM lenses must have a great deal of sample variation. I can see how they would fit with the OMD though. Maybe its time to pick another one...

What's your favorite adapted lens on m43?

What's your favorite adapted lens on m43?

Those are lovely. I have a later version of the Super Takumar (Pentax SMC 50/1.4...same optical formula but K mount). It's also smaller so that helps the handling. BTW, those are lovely BW's. Do you do BW in PP or shoot in BW? I have ben trying to get my OMD to produce BW that I like and so far...

What's your favorite adapted lens on m43?

    E-M10 BW JPEGs

Yeah, I have been struggling with gray blob syndrome. It's part of what I have been trying to get away from with the Olympus (although not all that successfully so far). I like the one of the the cigarette pack in the grass. That one is largely SOOC (I added some vignetting and tiny bit of...

Tried several different variations on setting up the JPEGs and none of them quite get to where I want to get to. Some really great looking images and some that I will definitely use again but just not quite what I was hoping for. I'm sure I can get there with enough noodling but not for my...

    There's no accounting for taste...

I always find it interesting what images get reactions on 500px. Sometimes its really a shock to me that images I think came out really well get no reaction and ones I am rather ambivalent about become really popular.

This is from @robcee on that thread Put 'er in Monotone. Contrast: +1, Shadow/Highlight: -2/+1, Sharpness: -1 (I find the builtin jpeg compression a little harsh), Gradation: Low-key. I'll give it a try. The sample he posted has the look I'm after.
